Cinematical's SmartGossip: Obviously, Holmes and Cruise Wed

Is there anyone reading who wasn't aware that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes were just married in Italy? If so, I envy your imperviousness to celebrity news. The rest of us have been hearing all week about possible locations for the wedding, who was or was not on the guest list, what the ceremony might be like, what they've been wearing around town ... and other speculation that is not really suitable for polite discussion. I believe I have heard more about their wedding than some of my relatives' ceremonies. No clear and interesting photos are yet available from the big event, so you'll just have to imagine what happened and how everyone looked ... if you're that interested.After much scouring of websites, desperate for gossip and news not related to the couple, I did manage to find a few items of interest:
- One related item: Defamer took a close look at the "For Your Consideration" ad for Thank You For Smoking and notes that a single cast member is absent from the list: Katie Holmes. Later, they learned that Holmes may have pulled herself from consideration.
- While we're all starry-eyed over a big wedding, celebrity divorce is also in the air: Actress Kate Hudson and musician Chris Robinson. They've been separated for three months, so this shouldn't be a shocker. TMZ notes that Robinson shares a divorce lawyer with Britney Spears.
- An Angelina Jolie - Brad Pitt wedding? Madame Tussaud's in Las Vegas planned to unveil a lavish portrayal in wax, even though such a ceremony never occurred. However, the couple protested, so the wax wedding won't be displayed. Meanwhile, back in real life, Jolie and Pitt are having bodyguard trouble again. This time, allegations are flying that the bodyguards behaved badly at a school in India, where Jolie is shooting A Mighty Heart.
- Who knew Felicity Huffman would follow celebrity trends regarding adoption? The actress adopted a poor little orphan dog, all the way from a Los Angeles humane society. Aww.
- Who's been named the Sexiest Man Alive by People magazine? No, it's not Jack Black. Maybe next year. It's George Clooney. Verrrry nice cover photo. This is the actor's second time to top the magazine's list, making Clooney tied with Brad Pitt. (I hope the phrase "Clooney tied with Brad Pitt" doesn't bring up fantasy images for some of you.)
- And who's been named the celebrity most people would want as a substitute teacher? Not a question I've ever pondered myself, mind you. That would be Jessica Alba. She beat Angelina Jolie and Oprah for the honor. (I hope the phrase ... naaaaaah, never mind.)
- Speaking of Angelina Jolie, for the nth time in this list, Radar Online has a guide to the actress's nude scenes in film. No actual photos -- you've got to rent and look for yourself.
- I couldn't find any fun scary celebrity photos this week, sadly enough. Feel free to share any links in the comments.

It always baffles me that people who are "so tired of hearing about them they could scream", bother to come and post that. Why are you reading the article if you're tired of hearing about it? Sounds like good ol' intentional hate propaganda to me!
Now back to the important issues. I am so happy for the two of them and enjoyed the wedding coverage. Although I was disappointed because I missed most of the new coverage because I was working. As an ACTUAL fan, I was disappointed with the picture released. Not because it wasn't nice, but because it was entirely unsatisfying and entirely too normal. You can't see the Swarovsky Crystals on her gown! Though the veil does look quite floaty, as described you can hardly see any detail. Tom looks way serious. She is hunched over to match Tom's height, making her look like she has bad posture, which she doesn't and so it is annoying. But they both look so happy.
I was hoping for much, much more in terms of coverage, but what can I say. I wasn't invited! I can only hope that they will release decent photos through Vanity Fair.
Having the entire castle lit up with candles was incredibly romantic. I'm not sure you can find any man willing to execute a 5 minute kiss in front of an audience with someone he doesn't truly love. I'd have been worried if it were a quick peck and then back to the ceremony - that's always a bad sign. Katie is too lucky and I am too jealous!
Reading all the psychologists speculation about how long their marriage will last, I can certainly say if you want to get divorced quickly, listen to those psychologists! According to them, every normal hardship in a marriage is a valid reasons to get divorced.
IMO the support of the community surrounding a married couple makes a difference. If people around you are willing you to fail, it certainly doesn't foster an environment for success. But I'm sure that Tom and Katie will defy popular speculation, as usual.
