V For Vendetta ... Again ?
Filed under: Action, RumorMonger, Fandom, Scripts, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
Very little surprises me when it comes to the world of cinema. It isn't that I'm a particularly well-connected fellow, or even particularly aware of the industry outside of my little geek bubble; it is simply that I more or less expect everything to be possible when it comes to this industry. When you realize nothing is off-limits and everything is in-play, it is hard to be caught off guard, right? But every now and then something pokes through my defenses and makes me mutter a serious "what the...?" So bemused was I by this information, I immediately shared it with the only geek friend of mine who was online at the moment, simply to take in his reaction, and it was exactly the same as my own. Ready for this?Warner Bros. is apparently considering a sequel to V For Vendetta. Weird, right? Without any of the principle cast/crew, they're talking direct-to-DVD. Somehow or another, the studio thinks the world wants a sequel to a movie which features the title character's prominent death scene as a major final plot point. Maybe we can follow the adventures of Evey as she heads off to the next stage in life, or perhaps the plot's events inspired a new man to take up the mask! Or maybe we can have a prequel! Everyone loves prequels, right? Seriously, how on earth is Warners going to spin this one to pull out a fresh plot?

Oh please, sweet God jesus, no no and no. Can people just leave Alan Moore's stuff alone? I mean I didn't think it could really get worse after the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, but this? Madness.

It's pretty apparent that it would likely be Evey taking up the mask - that was a principle point of the story, that the 'mask' and the was the symbol, the person behind it was not as important as the actions taken, etc... So it was something I assumed the film was implying - that Evey would carry on with as the new watchdog, with the original V gone.
But I'd bet Natalie Portman would shave her head again NOT to be considered for this sequel.

You obviuosly have not read the original graphic novel, right?
The movie retells... I dunno, 20%-30% of the original story...
You have lots of materials that have been pulled off the original script, and you obviusly can bring them back for a side story, a prequel, or a reinterpretation of the whole mith.
For me, the original V for Vendetta story would do an excelent 10-12 par miniseries instead of a movie, so...

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!
V for Vendetta is one of my all-time favorite movies, they should not destroy it. It was perfect, the end was perfect, I don't want to see the world after V's death, or the adventures of Evey. Hey Warner, let's just leave it as it is!

I hate to break it to you jmg, but the first film didn't have Alan Moore's approval. He has washed his hands of all things pertaining to V after DC so unceremoniously screwed him when stealing his rights to his work by republishing it again and again and again. He has said again and again that he did NOT want V to be a feature film. V2 would be an utter bastardization of the original work, regardless of how much was cut from the graphic novel for the first film.

V Vendetta was not a mistake and the war of Irak was not a mistake either, if it was easy they said if was a success but attacking a posible strong hold in the future in the center of middle east is no mistake, when you won a war to a murderous tiran and he will pay for the people that he killed is no mistake, the future some times get us to fight ontil the end far away from the US, you think is better to fight them there or you want to have to fight them here. They attact Spain, and London, and they could not reach to attack us, what you think that they understand another peace of other that peace of the graveyard. When the terrorist will tray to find peace then we could negotiate with them, until now they only want to have force to give us no reason that to fight them.

Yep, they need to just put the paper with the ideas in a cupboard. And then maybe burn the cupboard. I'm another V freak, and everyone knows that if they try for a sequel or a prequel, it'll only kill it.
Oh, and honestly, what would the prequel be about?? Giving us a full two hours of the events that were so awesomely described in about 10 minutes in V?? Get a life.

Defeat has no patronizer, and the easy war has everybody to tell I was that want to be recognized, the War of has been a just war, for the preservation of future piece, is better to onlish that war and not having them to start a war in American soil, that is my point, if is the same of the actual administration, is a coincidence, a refrain what President Bush that if we get scare telling our own soldier it is going to be the same like Vietnam is prejudizing them to accept a defeat when the responsible of the crimes in Irak is judge in final sentence and his going to pay for the crimes agains humanity. We have to be strong enough that the casualty don't get us to go back when they are going to do here in US to persue the terrorist acts.

The red or wine color coat worn by the security chief in the movie is really classic. Does anyone know where one can get such a mans overcoat. It had a wine or merlot type color to it. Very unique.

A sequal would be the most horrible thing to ever happen with this movie! It is a great movie because of the finale. I hope they really don't do this. I love the movie too much
