Schools to Get Free Copies of Scary Gore Flick!
Filed under: Documentary, Paramount, Home Entertainment
If you're among those who saw Al Gore's An Inconvenient Truth and thought "Wow, this documentary should be required viewing in our elementary schools!" then prepare to be happy: 50,000 copies of the DVD are being donated to schools across the country, courtesy of Paramount Vantage, Participant Productions and The Environmental Media Association.According to a report at DVDActive.com, teachers need only submit their school code in order to receive a free copy of the film to use in their classes. The DVDs will be the same version released by Paramount last month. In addition to a pair of audio commentaries, the disc also has a global warming update from Gore -- one that explains, hey, we're still not moving in the right direction, although signs suggest that things might be soon looking up.
And this is just one guy's opinion, but I think the free disbursement of the film is most definitely a step in the right direction. Some folks out there may believe that Gore is overstating the global warming problem, but there's little denying that our planet could be in some serious trouble if we don't start taking better care of it. Soon.
If you're not a student who'll soon be getting a free screening of An Inconvenient Truth, I'd definitely recommend at least a rental. You can watch it before Pirates of the Caribbean 2 and have a rather well-rounded evening of cinematic entertainment.

I would only favor this if alternative points of view were presented. Gore's film is nothing but sensationalized propaganda laced with a few facts, many of which are not even proven.
For you to endorse such a film as required watching for a classroom is deplorable unless you favor also presenting the other side.
If Gore and his team were genuine they would even arrange to have alternate views presented. Instead, they do not want debate with the best interest of the planet in mind, they want blind followers in their little cult, all the while traveling in gas guzzling SUVs.
