EXCLUSIVE: Three New 'TMNT' Photos
Filed under: Exclusive Photos, Hold the 'Fone
Cowabunga, dudes! 'TMNT,' the fourth 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' movie -- and the first one done entirely in CGI -- is less than four months away (it opens on March 23, 2007). Right now we've got not one but three, count 'em, three exclusive photos from the film. And that's right, by "exclusive" we do mean "can't see them anywhere else." Click on the photos for even larger images.
When this film opens, Shredder is dead (yeah, I know he's "died" twice now -- but rest assured, he doesn't show make a miraculous recovery in this one), and the Turtles, lacking a purpose, have gone their separate ways. Michelangelo's been entertaining at children's parties, for crying out loud. Talk about a fall from grace. In this scene, though, they receive an emergency phone call from their old pal April (voiced by Sarah Michelle Gellar) that helps get them back on track. Note that Donatello looks pensive and Leonardo's ready for action, but Splinter and Michelangelo can't even be bothered to get up from the table. And what is that, one pizza for each? Looks like some of our heroes may need to start hitting the Stairmaster.

The Turtles' new archenemy, as it turns out, is industrialist Max Winters (voiced by Patrick Stewart), who's being aided by Shredder's old apprentice Karai (Zhang Ziyi) in amassing an army of evildoers. Here, our friends at Warner Bros. tell us that the Turtles are "ready to face the Bigfoot Monster." I assume that means they're actually going to fight Bigfoot, and it's not just some kind of metaphor.

And now here comes the John Cusack shot of Leonardo in the rain. Sweet, huh? All he needs is to be holding up a boom box blaring 'In Your Eyes.' Seriously, I don't know who or what he's fighting, but the target of that punch can't be any match for Leonardo -- because turtles are waterproof. Or that's what I hear, anyway.

I'm glad the turtles are back, but I still wish they'd done a live-action film instead of CGI. The first TMNT movie was amazing.

I think the new TMNT movie is going to be big for the turtles fan base. This time you can see the turtles be more flexible instead of seeing four guys in big turtle outfits. The Cg effects are looking beautiful! I just can't wait for the movie to come out.

Why in the hell does Splinter look like Front Row Joe from Cinemark Movies??
This is a complete hack-job.

I can't wait for this one. It looks grittier and more fun like the original black and whites (and to some degree, the newer 'toon) (at least before they went into the future). And "hack "job?" Please. (Let's see this kid do better.)

To me Splinter reminds Ra´s al Ghul´s decoy from Batman Begins. The only difference is Splinter is a rat, decoy is human(I´m not talking about their personalities).

A few things...
I think this movie would be so much better if they made everything look more realistic. I agree, CG is the way to go. I don't think the turtles look half bad, and in the trailers they move pretty fluidly. But why make all the humans look like characters from those horrible Nickelodeon CG animated series like "Jimmy Neutron?" And since when did Splinter go from being a rat to a squirrel?
You can do some great things with CG, that's for sure. But I think they missed the mark big-time on this one.

I can't believe they're making a cgi TMNT movie...Oh wait, I can. Because everyone now thinks that if you're gonna do something, it has to be cgi. I thought the originals were great, especially the first. Just because we're (technologically) past a bunch of guys in suits and puppet heads doesn't mean they're not as good. I'm still not sure if I'm gonna lay down the money to see this. Gimme some foam suits and puppet heads...I'll definitely be there

After looking at the first picture, I wonder how much money did Frito Lay pay the producers to get a cameo of the Cheeto's mascot Chester into the movie?
