Take a Good Goofy Peek at Severance
Even though the UK got their native Severance way back in August (with the R2 DVD due next week), we Yanks won't get to see it in theaters until April 6th -- unless Magnolia Pictures bumps the release date because, well, that's the day Grindhouse is opening. Various fest-goers have already been able to enjoy Christopher Smith's twisted little horror flick (myself included), but the Average Joe horror geek will have to wait until Magnolia (finally) unleashes the goods. In the meantime you can head over to The Film Asylum and check out one nifty little clip from the flick, although I'm a little bit bummed; this snippet represents one of the most surprisingly amusing moments in the film, and it kinda stinks to have it ruined before you see the movie. Oh well, it's still funny. Enjoy. (There's also a trailer that's certainly worth watching.)
The flick stars the hilarious Danny Dyer, the luminous Laura Harris and a whole bunch of Brits you might not recognize -- but that doesn't stop 'em from being quite amusing before they're stalked, staked and hacked to death by a bunch of ravenous freakoes deep in the mountains of Eastern Europe.
Oh, and there's a bear.

Wasn't overly impressed with this one, despite Laura Harris' lovely presence. Enjoyed "Creep" a good deal more.

This was one of the best comedy horror films I've seen.
It's got a bit more gore than Shaun of the Dead, and the humour is a lot more British than a lot of stuff out there.
The drug stuff is spot on though, Danny Dyer has made a career out of perfecting that

I had a lucky opportunity to see this film and was very impressed. Great Brit humor and genuinely good bloody fare. It should do well when it hits stateside.

I have to agree with the negative comments on this one. I covered it for the Chicago Int'l Film Festival and couldn't believe it was going to be IN the festival. It was like watching a poorly written episode of The Office mixed with Shaun of the Dead style horror, without the wit and humor.
I was excited at the prospects, but aside from some fun gore, I had a hard time getting the words out to describe such a bland experience.

It's absolute balls. It was pitched in the advertising material as Shaun of the Dead, but it was no more than a typical [crap] horror film. No doubt they figured they could get away with calling it comedy horror because Danny Dyer, and a guy that could coincidentally easily be mistaken with Nick Frost at a glance, act like prats in it.
(I'm British by the way)
