Has Rachel Weisz Replaced Angelina Jolie in Sin City 2?

Yes, it's big, explosive rumor day here on Cinematical -- we've already told you about some McConaughey P.I. coolness, and now Cinema Blend is reporting (via some anonymous inside source) that Rachel Weisz is replacing Angelina Jolie as the "Dame to Kill For" in Sin City 2. Granted, Jolie was never officially attached to the role, but based on what we've heard from cast members and the like, she was very interested in hopping onboard the highly-anticipated sequel to Robert Rodriguez's Sin City -- which, of course, was based off Frank Miller's graphic novels.
For those not aware, Sin City 2 will follow the storylines of A Dame to Kill For with Weisz (or Jolie) playing, well, the kind of dame a man would kill for. But here's my question: Is Weisz a better fit than Jolie for a role like this? Hardcore fans of the graphic novels could probably answer that best -- the way I see it, Jolie was perfect for the part. However, Weisz -- um -- she's cute and all, but I wouldn't kill for her ... that's for sure. It's important to stress that this is just a rumor right now -- production isn't set to begin until 2008 (supposedly) -- and so please don't write off the entire film based on what you've read here. Heck, perhaps you'd rather see Weisz take over since Jolie is just too damn Hollywood-ized right now -- gossip, gossip, Brad Pitt, gossip, gossip -- it's kind of hard to take her seriously anymore. Hey, but you be the judge.

I kinda thought Monica Belluci would be good for her part... But Weisz is still a better choice than Jolie.

I definately agree with Monica Belluci for the role, and I could see Angelina for the look, buy Rachel Weisz is the best actress of the group. She would do great.

Angelina Jolie looks like a skeleton, her arms are so frail, you'd think she was an old woman, she looks like a praying mantis. Her face at the Golden Globes was very Joan Rivers at a distance, there is nothing to kill for about her, there hasn't been for some years now. Sure, Vogue, VF and the camera can make her look good but in reality, there is nothing there.
Monica Belluci is not much either, her Persephone in the Matrix was crap after all the hype that preceded it. If people's idea of sexy is to talk slowly and move slowly then get Belluci, all look and no substance. Rachel Weisz, can be taken or left. Most of these women are so hyped but frankly, there isn't much to them. Sin City came and went, I can't remember the last time anyone talked about it after it left the cinema.

Hello...have u guys thot of Kiera Knightley for thiz role? She would certainly du good to me. But if she isnt in the picture, then i tink i'd stick with Jolie coz she looks more sexy and modelike to Wiesz. Weisz is somewhat robust and nut a chick most fellas would stick out their neck for...in my opinion. Then u get to talk of their diferent prose to acting and handlin the gun and dick..lol. Jolie is better off. If she dont get the role, it means she dont want it anyore. Thats it.

Rachel Weisz is gorgeous beyond all reason. Much more so than Jolie. And she's too good for a Sin City flick. Jolie is certainly perfect for the role though.

Maybe there should be a "Sin City 3: Washington." Hillary could be the one to kill for since she is so good at getting people to do that for her. Pelosi could be "The Woman Whose Skin Was Too Tight." The old Democrats like Ted Kennedy and Robert Byrd could be "The Old Liberals Who Refused to Die." To please the liberals, there could be the story about Bush titled "Stupid Is As Stupid Does." The biggest crime story could be titled "Congress: License to Steal" which would be based on Congress' ability to steal our money by calling it taxes. If you had been able to steal over $12 trillion from the citizens of America, you'd go to prison forever. When Congress did it, the people who committed the crime were re-elected. Congress is the only group of people whose success is often measured by how much money they can rob from some people and give to others who will very likely waste it.
The Mafia has many ways of laundering money to disguise their criminal activities and they are so secretive in organized crime. But Congress which has taken more money in a month than what organized crime has taken in a century is much more powerful and not many politicians go to prison for what they did. There is organized crime and there is Congress. But that is being redundant.

Are you kidding? Rachel Weitz is an awesome actress. Did anyone see her in Constantine? ...Or the fight scenes in The Mummy Returns? She's way hot in black leather and sexy despite her etheral charm and beauty as seen in The Constant Gardener, which also , btw, won her a Best Supporting Oscar. And no I am not a lesbian but I would definitely kill for her. Jolie is beautiful, I'll give her that much, but I never warmed to her acting skills despite her Best Supporting Oscar. I fell asleep watching Mr& Mrs. Smith *yawn*
All the way Rachel!!!

Rachel is awesome, but is she supposed to be evil in Sin City? She's so sweet, that's hard to believe. She's definitely one of my favorite actresses though?
My choices would be Catherine Zeta Jones, Scarlett Johanssen, Jennifer Connelly, Carla Gugino (too bad she was already in Sin City!)
