Internet Rumors Force Zombie to Delay Halloween?

The bad buzz, the bad script reviews and one helluva bad vibe has caused Rob Zombie to come down with a case of fanboy fever -- yes, the internet fanboys are officially pissing him off. Basically, the whole what-to-do started when AICN ripped into Zombie's script for the latest Halloween installment (a so-called "re-imagining" of the entire franchise). However, Fangoria followed that up with a review that praised Zombie's script -- but, apparently, the damage had already been done. The musician-turned-director went kind of ballistic on his MySpace page, saying (in part): "This is crazy. Do you really go through life influenced by the thoughts of others that easily?"
So, with casting just about done, a production schedule set and a release date of August 31(because everyone likes to dress up and go trick-or-treating right around Labor Day) to stick by, what does Zombie do? How about delay everything and re-write the script? Now, we don't know that for sure -- Bloody Disgusting is only going by "industry buzz" at the moment -- but there's a strong possibility the entire film could be pushed back. Because of a script review for an (supposedly) old draft? I don't get it either, but something isn't right in Zombie land. Stay tuned, as Cinematical plans to follow this one straight down into the bizarre rabbit hole it's decided to hide.
In related news, BD also has the scoop on who may or may not be cast as the memorable Laurie Strode (originally played by Jamie Lee Curtis). Two names are surfacing at the moment: Lindy Booth (Dawn of the Dead) and Agnes Bruckner (The Woods, Blood and Chocolate). As per usual, everyone close to Booth, Bruckner and the film itself are denying the rumors ... for now. I'm sure as soon as Zombie gets over his little temper tantrum we'll know what's really going on. Or not. But do you care either way?

Nah, this is an incredibly good thing. Sources are that the script AICN read was pretty close to the final draft and considering what he was going to do...well, it just wouldn't be a Halloween movie anymore. Lets review:
-Michael Myers was going to TALK...a lot
-The beginning was going to delve into moments of child abuse and other horrible moments in Michael's past...come on, don't give him an excuse for being evil....he's just evil for evil's sake...nothing else
-Dr. Loomis was a bumbling pussy
-You were going to see Myers without his mask...a lot
I'm sorry, but these are some horrible decisions and I hope he's going back on everyone...
Just so this doesn't make AICN look bad, they are pretty good at this sort of thing, the last Superman movie being a prime example.
Now regardless of whether you liked the last one or not, the original script that AICN intercepted would have made you all screaming bloody murder...
For instance:
- Jimmy Olsen would have been gay
- Lex Luthor would have been from Krypton too...yeah...wha???
- And for no real good reason, there is a giant mechanical spider destroying Metropolisis
So ok, the spider thing does sound pretty cool, but thank god for the other things plus others I forgot about...
I consider this business with the Halloween movie to be another thankful save...

First off it sounds like Rob is the one with the problem. Zombie sucks as a direcor. He's taking it upon himself to ruin one of the greatest horror classics of my generation, and thankfully I'm not the only one who dosen't want to see this happen. Rob Zombie needs to stick to directing white trash movies for jis trailer park following and leave the real horror to proffetionals.

I wish Zombie the best and respect his ideas......new ideas. However this is not the case to re-invent the wheel. If he wants to give a different point of view from a main character standpoint,by all means give it a shot. However why fix something that was not broken? The original HALLOWEEN was a classic. Why change the complete behavior patterns of Michael Myers. Also the reason,so subtle in its deliverenc,he is evil is that he is possesed by the devil. It was his innocence that was inhabited. That is what makes pure evil so powerful.Hence "the blackest eyes, the devil's eyes".The "Excorcist" never went nor needed to go into detail about why the little girl became possessed, why should HALLOWEEN?Some aspects are left to the imagination and that is what makes it complete.I still wish Rob Zombie the best and believe he is capable and talented enough to do the project. It would be great see a Sucessful sequel or pre-quel to the HALLOWEEN SERIES.

The thing is, if you accept the "explanations" offered by the Halloween sequels, Michael isn't merely "pure evil" -- he's DRUID-INFLUENCED "pure evil."
