Weaver and Cameron Reunited

Could I be any more excited about James Cameron's Avatar? Typically I'm too cynical to have high expectations about any film in the works, but as I mentioned last week, this isn't just any film. Now, thanks to some rumors being discussed on AICN, my anticipation has risen even higher. It seems that Cameron regular Michael Biehn may have a role in the movie, and there's also a good chance that Sigourney Weaver is attached, as well.
At least Weaver can be confirmed as being linked to either Avatar or Cameron's other in-the-works project Battle Angel. She appeared on the Canal+ talk show Le Grand Journal yesterday to promote Snow Cake, but also slipped in the news that the Alien films were done (or at least her involvement with them) and that she is reuniting with Cameron for a new sci-fi picture. I don't understand French very well, but I watched the show and could make out the gist of Weaver's dialogue. Unfortunately, she didn't name the movie, and so I'll just have to hope she meant Avatar.
Of course, it doesn't matter which movie she'll be in. The important thing is that she'll be in one of them. Sure, an annoucement that she and Biehn (and let's pray Bill Paxton) are working together again will make us of think of Cameron's best work, but then again they could also be co-stars in Battle Angel. Or they could all work together on both! Okay, my excitement is getting the better of me, and I need to control myself and get back to being my usual cynical self.
Now that I'm back to normal, I should be the first to say that Avatar will definitely be a disappointment, because there's no way it will live up to expectations.

That's fantastic news. I agree that: a) Aliens is Cameron's best work and b) Who cares which project Ripley, er, Weaver and Biehn are involved with?
If what she said about the Alien series is true, I'm going to cry.

Aliens has been so enshrined that some people may be disappointed, but last time I saw it I had a hard time not seeing it as a precursor to Starship Troopers with elements of Rambo mixed in. And Ripley was so angst ridden I think the character was a bit limited. I acknowledge it is a pretty good movie. Certainly good enough to have me geeked about them reteaming on Avatar.
