Katie Holmes Is Out -- Will Rachel McAdams Step In?

Reactions to Christopher Nolan's Batman Begins might have been varied, but on one point most seemed to agree -- there was nothing all that thrilling about the performance of Katie Holmes. To be honest, although I was ambivalent about her in the movie, "the girl" role in Batman movies has never been all that interesting to me to begin with. In the end, they are always just somebody to rescue.On Thursday, tipsters inside Warner Brothers told LatinoReview.com that Katie Holmes would not be returning in the role of Bruce Wayne's childhood love Rachel Dawes for the sequel, The Dark Knight. Then, Variety confirmed that Holmes had officially dropped out to join Mad Money with Diane Keaton and Queen Latifah. Now, the rumor mill is at full tilt about Rachel McAdams being the front-runner to replace Holmes as "the girl" in the film. It's all completely unsubstantiated at this date, but another rumor -- that McAdams has been asked to make an appearance in the film as Selena Kyle -- seems somehow more credible. Also, Nolan is still looking for his Harvey Dent, so it may be a while before this cast begins to fall into place.

yes throw selena kyle into the mix! now there's a real love interest for batman. the only real love interest who has lasted through the comics. in a way catwoman is to batman what lois lane is to superman. oh and please don't give her superpowers. she should be an aristocratic cat burgler with a flair for the theatrical. again much like batman himself.

What about using Jack Nicholson again for the Joker insteead of Heath Ledger. But yes I agree the Ray Liotta would be a great Harvey Dent.

Jack Nicholson was GREAT as the Joker, however, since this deals with a younger generation of Batman fans, and is a supposedly new take on the origins of Batman, I reluctantly say that it would be inappropriate to re-cast Nicholson. It will be interesting to see what Ledger will do with it.
I was reluctant to see Bale play Batman/Wayne, but he did a good job, so I am optimistic.

ray liotta is one of the most underrated and under used actors. harvey dent/two face would be a great role for him to fill, and i would hope that they continue use of villians in general through more than one movie

Rachel is a great actress. She was great in "beautiful girl" and hilarious as the blonde Regina in "Mean Girls". She has a lot of talent whereas Katie is just ho-hum. You look at Rachel and say "wow". You look at Katie and say, "why?"

Katie Holmes... Good ridance!!! Rachel McAdams is an awesome actress. She would be an amazing cat woman, my favorite character! Katie brought the movie down. Ray Liotta would be a perfect Harvey Dent. As far as Heath Ledger, he is too "pretty" to play the joker. Jack Nicholson could be good but is he too old compared to the rest of the cast?

i agree that RAY LIOTTA should play Harvey Dent...Ray is PERFECT for this role...remember his angry psycho characters this guy has played..he is INTENSE...he will play right into Nolan's dark portrait of Gotham City
