Wait, Now There Are Two Wonder Woman Movies?

Great, just when we thought there was only one upcoming Wonder Woman flick to deal with, The Hollywood Reporter tells us Warner Bros. and Silver Pictures have gone and quietly snagged another Wonder Woman spec from newbie scribes Matthew Jennison and Brent Strickland. However (and this is the good news), the studio doesn't plan to make this second Wonder Woman film because, well, producer Joel Silver and Warners are already hard at work on Joss Whedon's version of the sexy superhero.
Confused? Let me clarify: See, the only reason they picked up this second script was because they didn't want anyone else to grab it, go into production, then turn around and throw a lawsuit at Warners claiming similarities between the two. Plus, they really liked Jennison and Strickland's writing ... and I suppose they now have a back-up in case Whedon suddenly packs his bags and disappears. The bad news? Um, I hate to say it, but the other script sounds more interesting. Apparently, Jennison and Strickland's version used World War II as a backdrop, where Whedon's take has Wonder Woman saving the world in present day. I don't know about you, but Wonder Woman set against a World War II backdrop sounds a lot more unique and appealing. Now we can get back to casting rumors.

i doubt they bought it to avoid a lawsuit considering warner brothers owns wonder woman in it's entirety as they own dc comics. what i suspect is they bought it so they could hand it over to joss and he could incorporate some elements into it. and no wonder woman during ww2 would not be interesting. it was lame during the tv series and it would be lame now. what we need is to bring her into the now along with the likes of batman and superman (smallville's not singer's) and let the world know that there can be heroes today that aren't all broody and mopey like the x-men.

Here's an idea: How about NO Wonder Woman movie? The character is so ridiculous, with her truth-lasso, invisible jet, bullet-deflecting wrist bands, and stars 'n' stripes granny-panties that there is no conceivable way of making a good movie. Mark my words - whichever version they go with will lead the Razzies for the year it's released in. Honestly, I can't imagine a bigger waste of money

Or, they realize that Joss is not has great as his legion of brainwashed buffyfans/browncoats make him out to be and bought the script to have as a back up plan in case his is utter crap.

Amen to what stephen wrote.
Ditch the Singer Superman film, bring in the Smallville cast - but ditch a lot of the series baggage - and you'll have a great reborn Superman film franchise.
I still say Monica Bellucci should be Wonder Woman. And if not, have Charisma Carpenter as a backup.

Down with Whedon. He's overrated, but if you tell that to his fans they go apeshit like little kids cos you shot their hero down in flames!
I hope Whedon either leaves or gets dumped from this project altogether. He does not seem interested in doing this project. Either that or he is really finding it tough, which is funny since if you talk to his fans they say he can do anything! I'm not convinced.

If Jennison and Srickland are reading this, Please cast Nadia Bjorlin as your Wonder Woman. She is the right choice. This maybe the break that us Nadia fans needed. With Whedon out, the film will probably start too get rolling, real soon. I hope that you give her a chance.

I've said that Joss Whedon's script would NEVER make it all along. Nadia Bjorlin must be the one..She's the only one!!......Thank the Gods Joss Whedon is gone---he never seemed to care much less be inspired. If something is truly inspired and good it should flow...JW got no flow.....and I'd just like to say. Joss Whedon is stupid...as he himself might say he's all "stupidy"...So glad they fired his stupid ass...Serenity was the most forgettable movie I saw last year...Firefly was stupid---Buffy was never that great.......There's hope for Wonder Woman now that WB and Joel Silver got wise and FIRED him......Diana has been around since WW2 for real....Something about her character strikes a cord.....This movie will come to be and it will be fantastic......and it's going to be even MORE fantastic now that we won't have to share cinema seats with Joss Whedon's LOSER fans!!..HA!!...

i agree! nadia should be wonder woman, she is the only actress that compare in beauty to lynda carter! i've been waiting for this movies for years now! and i'm glad that they did not pick j.lo and all those other hollywood women that would just not fit the part! and as far as it being a waste of money to the person who said that! scew you! you just dont want to see a positive woman role model on screen, if we can have superman from another planet, with beams that shoot out of his eyes, why cant we have something more real like a woman who was born on earth and has no real super power but her strength and wisdom that so many men lack! and whats wrong with the fact that she can deflect bullets with her bracelts? and as far as her lasso goes just think of her golden lasso thats makes you tell the truth as a portable lie detector test. i dont see nothing wrong with having a super hero movie with a character thats actually possibe to become! the movies fill young children with dreams of super heros that they could never grow up to be, atleast with wonder woman she is actually someone you can come the closest to being. And i fell that women and little girls need a strong woman figure , not no brat or barbie doll, they dont teach you to be strong when a man is trying to rape you! signed a wonder woman fan and proud of it!
