Initial Teaser for Resident Evil's Second Sequel

OK, yes, fine. I'll admit it: I like Resident Evil. There, I said it. Not the sequel, mind you, but the first one. Call it a guilty pleasure or good mindless fun, but I've revisited RE more than once over the years, and the goofy mayhem still holds up pretty well for me. The less said about Resident Evil: Apocalypse the better. And of course you know by now -- they're making a third one. This just-released teaser trailer for Resident Evil: Extinction looks suitably slick, spooky and action-laden -- but then again so did the promo materials for the first sequel and ... I'm talking about Apocalypse again, aren't I? Sorry.
Part of the reason I have some fresh hope for this franchise is because producers Jeremy Bolt and Paul W.S. Anderson didn't give the reins to just another young music video hotshot. They actually went with a veteran in Russell Mulcahy, and that's the guy who directed Razorback, Highlander and Ricochet -- in addition to other (lesser) features. And yes, we're still being asked to buy wafer-thin (but stunningly gorgeous) Milla Jovovich as a high-end zombie butt-kicker. Like I said: good mindless fun. Resident Evil: Extinction opens on September 21.

Just remember that for every film like HIGHLANDER on Mulcahy's resume, there's a film like HIGHLANDER 2.

First RE was amusing enough. Milla's got a weird niche for herself as scrawny buttkicker. She can thank Besson for that...niloo.

You know, I really disliked the first Resident Evil and liked the second one. And I am hopeful for this last one. And I for one am glad that the lasers slicing people into pieces fashion is done with for now. That bit in the first one made the movie unwatchable for me and why it's not in my dvd collection. But Milla is always fascinating and I'm always going to go see her movies. Beautiful women, monsters and guns - what's not to love.

I preferred the second Resident Evil to the first one as well.Apocalypse was far more entertaining and didn't have as many irritating moments.
With that said, they were both far from good horror films and i am not looking forward to the setting of this third one.

While I can understand like a movie that is just a fun "popcorn flick". If should not be done with this franchise, Resident Evil has such a well established and evolved story line that these films are just a slap in the face, PWSA ranks with Uwe Boll in my opinion.

There is mindless "fun" and then theres just mindless. Both of the previous Resident Evil movies took established aspects of zombie movies from 20 years ago and simply packaged them with "Resident Evil" name to take advantage of the fan base. The games weren't just stupid action games that required button matching. They built on suspensful music and situations, and required players to use their brains despite being scared s***less. The movies should have been more akin to Alien then House of the Dead.

Uhm, excuse me, but there was a time that Russell Mulcahy was THE "young music video hotshot". He shot most of Duran Duran's ground breaking music videos.
I suspect you were trying to be ironic with your writing, or perhaps I'll just give you the benefit of the doubt. But here, read for yourself:

I think "The Wild Boys" is his best music video.

Not to inject a sense of sense but why would a post-apocalyptic Vegas buried in sand for years still have electricity for a Jumbotron?

I honestly think that Paul is doing a good job with the RE franchise. I can't COMPLAIN. All the other Zombie flicks I've seen so far are not watchable these days. The only 2 horror films I enjoy is Dawn of the Dead and Resident Evil. Can't get ne better then that. Can't wait for the 3 Edition.
*****GIVE PAUL ANDERSON HIS PROPS CAUSE HE"S DOING A GOOD JOB.*****
