Discuss: Dos and Don'ts for Ellen DeGeneres
Filed under: Awards, Oscar Watch, Hold the 'Fone
Ellen DeGeneres takes the stage on February 25 as host of the 79th Academy Awards ceremony -- and if she thinks hosting the Oscars is as easy as showing up and tossing off a few one-liners, she's got another think coming. Luckily, she can learn tons from those who came before her, from revered hosts like Johnny Carson and Billy Crystal to unfortunately maligned hosts like David Letterman and Chris Rock.
Take a look at our advice to Ellen, based on the best and worst moments in Oscar host history, and then help her out with your own pearls of wisdom.

Just be yourself Ellen and you will be one of the best Oscar hosts of all time. I love your humor and
if you have to do something stupid that is written for you then those who know and appreciate your type of comedy will know it's not your fault.
good luck !!!!

My suggestion? Unlike this article, be sure you can count. To wit: If Letterman hosted in "1995" and dissed Oprah...and "the result" was she didn't speak to him for "16 years" ... uma, uma, 1995+16 equals, uma uma year 2007+1+1+1+1... !!!!! Hello?

Let me see, your not funny. So don't tell jokes. You can't act, so don't try to do any acting at the oscars.
Maybe just be yourself, thats right yourself. Talk how much you love being Gay. Than you win a oscar.

Ellen, Do a spoof of the movies from 2006, with surprise cameo appearances. For example, when Billy Crystal was on the Titanic and he tried to give a letter to Kevin Costner ("The Postman"). And I thought it was hilarious when it looked as if the main characters from Titanic were spitting on him.
And it was hilarious when they had the tent with Billy Crystal and Chris Rock inside to spoof "Brokeback Mountain." Remember when Jon Stewart was in bed with Halle Berry and George Clooney? That was also very funny. Good luck!
