Arnold to Make Terminator 4 Cameo?
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, MGM, RumorMonger, Fandom, Remakes and Sequels
We've been back and forth on this a few times, but now it looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger might be appearing in the next Terminator flick after all. Empire tells us (via The Boston Herald) that MGM chairman Harry Sloan recently spoke about the (much-anticipated?) sequel and alluded to a certain aspect of Ahnold's contract that states he's required to appear in a fourth film. So, will he or won't he be back?
Here's what we know for sure: The script is done for Terminator 4, and if director Jonathan Mostow still plans to hit that (summer?) 2008 targeted release, then production on the flick should begin soon. While Nick Stahl is rumored to be playing John Connor, we still don't know for sure who will star ... but we do know it won't be Arnold. Can a new Terminator flick be successful with, well, the Terminator we all know and love appearing in only a cameo role, if that? And what kind of cameo would this be? A "killed off in the first scene" cameo or a "make you smile right before the end credits role" cameo? For me, the more important question is who do you get to replace The Man? The Rock?

It sounds crazy, but the Rock isn't a bad idea to replace Arnie, Dwayne Johnson, is easily the most talented actor, wrestling has ever provided us.
As for Arnies cameo, I wouldn't mind seeing him as a scientist developing the terminators, unknowing his likeness would later be used on the T-100..
that would be pretty cool, but nothing more in-depth than that.

The Rock as the new Terminator would be an excellent idea! In Terminator I, during one of Kyle Reese's flashbacks, we saw a non-arnold terminator, so the precedent is set for having T-800 styles other the the "Arnold." Having a "Rock" T-800 is plausible within the existing framework of the story(of course, a reprogrammed T-1000, T-X, or some new model would work as well.)
On another note: It will be interesting to see how 1) they close the temporal loop that is the basis for the story and 2) if they can continue the story past the closure point which would allow them to extend the franchise.

Only one man could do it... "I ain't got time to bleed" fellow Governator Jesse "The Body" Ventura.
Or Hulk Hogan.

Wasn't the next film supposed to actually show the war with the machines? If thats the case, no human-looking terminator would be needed at all. Simply make a good movie about us vs. them. Arnold could show up towards the end as the first human-looking one sent back in the first place.

Scott's right, the end would be right before the first terminator, sending kyle and arnie back in time, then connor biting it. no need for a big role for the governor at all.

I'd actually love to see a cameo scene that runs something along the lines of... The humans assaulting the Terminator stronghold where we catch a glimpse of the first Terminator being sent back, linking it to the first film.

we need arnold i think they have ways of geting around this problem like my ideas make t4 a cartoon with arnold voice or even do it with the reprogramed fk reaper we saw in t3 redemtion and use his voice for that or even use a cgi efects to make a computer generated arnold in the film.. i no they scaned his face anyway because the sergent candy scene in t3 arnold holds his head up and says its me..if i watch t4 and its crap i will throw pop corn at the god dam screen and form a band of resistance fighters to burn every single last copy of this film on dvd... leave me some of your ideas and you can contact me if you want on my email terminator_t850@hotmail.com
