Captain America is Dead -- So Who Should Play Him in the Movie?
The powers-that-be over at Marvel Comics have decided to kill off one of their most But even if ol' Captain A doesn't get a new comic book right away, Marvel has earmarked this character for his very own movie adpatation. (Yes, you get geek points for remembering that there already was a Captain America movie, but you lose those points (times two) if you actually liked that movie. Triple bonus points to anyone who's seen both of the 1979 made-for-TV CapAm movies!) So in honor of the red, white and blue-coated superhero, we ask you this: Who the heck would you cast as Captain America in a live-action movie? I would have said Thomas Jane if that guy didn't already have his own Marvel franchise to deal with, but how about somebody like Ryan Reynolds? Oh, he's still a possibility for the lead in that Flash movie? Okay, then you guys decide: Who'd be the perfect choice for this hero? (And to the hardcore fans: Who would you get to play Red Skull?)

He's stiff as hell, but Paul Walker fits the bill.

First of all...please don't cast Nick Cage!
Hmmm...who should play the nest Captain America???
How about JUSTIN CHAMBERS??
You know the cute doctor who plays Alex Karev on Grey's Anatomy? He's cute, his built, and he needs a lead "transistion" role right now.
If he's not available I guess there's always Jude Law...bleh.

Politics: Something lacking (thankfully) from this site. Thus sometimes a point is made that touches a political (thus cinematical) nerve in all of us, at least to me- 'Flight 93', "Death of a President', WTC', War movies, etc..
Here comes Captain America: A comic hero (who I like since I was a boy) dripping with right-wing patriotism at a touchy time in US when...
-Let me cut to the chase. The movie will bomb overseas where most foreigners hate the "A" word.
Last month I went to Germany and France and told them I'm an Aerican, I almost got killed.(and that's just G and F)
Now if you make an HBO special then it will have a decent viewing. otherwise it'll loose lots of money.
Who should play the heroic character? a man who uses his power to defend the super rich, ignore the poor, invade litle contries, lie about weapons of mass...
Sorry, I forgot, it's a movie.
Who should play Red Skull? that Nazi freak.
Either make it a digital character or hire Dick Cheney.
Ahum..
I guess I'm just pissed with Germany and France. Next time I want piece and quiet I'll go to a place I'll be proud to scream "I'm an American!
Iraq.

Gio are we thinking the same Captain America? Here's a quote from wikipedia of the recent events in Captain America's history.
"In the 2006 Civil War crossover, Captain America defies the government and the law by leading the Anti-Registration faction and resistance movement against the government, becoming a fugitive in the process and pitting himself against the heroes of the Pro-Registration movement, including his former friend Iron Man."
An easy read from wikipedia - but I suggest the comics.

If I were to see a Captain America movie, I'd probably suggest seeing Dominic Purcell (the super vampire villain in Blade Trinity) take the lead role or possibly take Red Skull'sRole. He can pull off as either hero or villain.

Even though he's a wee bit past the optimal age for Cap, I think Brad Pitt would have been the perfect choice. Specifically, I think back to his performance as Achilles in "Troy". Say what you will about the movie itself, but Pitt owned that role, and I remember thinking as I was watching it that this is how Captain America should be played, a true leader of men, someone that could inspire troops into the bloodiest of battles.
One caveat to this recommendation; I think that the Utlimates version of Captain America is the one that should be put on screen, not the standard Captain America from the regular Marvel universe.

I can't think of an A-list actor that would do either character justice.

I think Damian Lewis from Band of Brothers would be a cool Captain America. Ralph Fiennes could be The Red Skull. Kevin Zegers as Bucky Barnes.

Since it's been revealed that the first 'Capt. America' created a black man, why not open the role up to black actors? Both Blair Underwood and Will Smith are athletic and talented enough to pull off the role. And they're mature enough to pull off an early 30's Cap.
They'd definitely do as well, if not better, as John Cena, Jude Law, and Justin Chambers.

Who says Tom Jane won't get to play the part? In the final Civil War installment, as Cap is lead off to prison, the Punisher picks up Cap's cowl. Art then may get to imitate art and wouldn't that kick ass.
And I get the feeling that Steve Rogers will not be making a reappearance. Marvel may go with someone new picking up the mantle for the 21st Century.
In any event, this makes it a really, really bad time for an Iron Man movie. At the moment, Tony Stark must be the most hated villain in the Marvel universe.

This may be a "stretch", but how about Mel Gibson as the "Red Skull", because that would allow him to FLUSH his system of all the anti-semitism, and Michael Richards as C. A. because, he too, could go on a tirade about dealing with situations in the "poorer" sections of the country, and as Bucky Barnes, how about Jon Helder, from Napoleon Dynamite fame, because he still doesn't have a clue and would agree with Richards outbursts and he kind-a looks like him too.

Im pretty sure Stephen Colbert is involved with Captain America’s death and that you will see him enter as a villain soon or as the new Captain America, who knows!

Ok this has turned into a political mess. Captain America is a comic book CHaracter. His characers views are just that, his character's views. Stop pinning stuff on him! FOr who would play him? I would suggest Mark Wahlberg
