Attention, horror fanatics -- James Wan and Leigh Whannell have something to say. Actually, it's the opposite -- they want to hear what you have to say to them. The scare-meisters behind 2004's Saw and the upcoming Dead Silence have agreed to take time out of dreaming up new methods of murder and mayhem to answer any questions you might have for them. Have a question about the Saw series that's been knawing at your brain for years? Want to know something about Dead Silence you don't know already? Want to get details about Wan's upcoming film Death Sentence? Want to know what breakfast cereal James and Leigh prefer? This is a no-holds-barred question and answer session, so ask away. Submit your questions to this post, via the comment box. Include your first name, where you're from, and put your actual question in quote-marks. If your question is one of the ones that James or Leigh answer, it will appear in one of the 'answer' posts we put up, starting next week. The deadline for submitting questions is March 13, so there's not much time -- start thinking!

For Leigh Whannell:
"You just finished a role for “Death Sentence,” which is a film adaptation of a novel and not a script that you wrote. What’s it like going from working as an actor in a film where you know the script intimately because you wrote it (Adam in “Saw”) to a film where you are simply just an actor, reading someone else’s lines?”

Question for James Wan:
"Are we ever going to see your first film STYGIAN ever released on DVD? We are all dying to see it."

Unfortunately I am a film student and I have so many business related questions to ask that are innapproriate for a Q & A such as this so I'll go on to ask something else of you guys.
What's the affinity for puppets all about? I'm not suggesting that this is a calling card or a trademark but you have the Saw Puppet which has become a modern horror icon and now in Dead Silence we have many more puppets. Is there a fear that this is based upon or is this something that just works for you?
Big fan love the movies, can't wait for Halloween.

You started from humble film reviewer for various Australian mediums to now being a successful writer and something that you may not have been aiming for, actor, what has the rise in the last 2 years been like? Hollywood's effect on an Aussie?
Oh yeah and did you really get a lot of girly crush fan mail while you were on Recovery (ABC TV Australia)?

Remakes of classic horror films seem to be an ongoing trend these days, and most are so bad that I don't usually bother with them. But Aja and Levasseur's THE HILLS HAVE EYES was one of the rare exceptions, (I thought). I would love to see you guys tackle a classic remake as a team, so here's my question: if you were given everything you needed to do one up right, which classic would you like to tackle that hasn't already been done recently?

As you both pursue more varied work are you ever bothered by the absence of pathos in modern Horror? With the endless array of so-called "gore porn" that followed Saw and certainly the misrepresentation it's caused you both, do you regret that instead of focusing on the character arcs (what could have been a 12 Angry Men/Waiting For Godot with hacksaws) you chose a more conventional route that focused on violence?

I just got done watching saw3 on Wednesday. Will there be a fourth one with Jeff being the mastermind behind anything? Or is that the last one?
I also enjoyed the ending, it had a good twist to it.

For the producers of SAW and Dead Silence: I feel a bit stupid asking this, but since all of your movies are based on murderous puppets and dolls, do you ever get scared when you see a doll?

Let me tell you something, movies with living dolls freak me out and I'm soo excited about DEAD SILENCE. I wonder, what inspired you guys to make a movie about dummies and dolls?

Mr. Wan,
Did you make the dolls for Dead Silence? Did you and Mr. Whannell plan on making Saw sequels?
Mr. Whannell,
Do you prefer being an actor or a screenwriter? Would you ever give up one to persue the other? What is your dream role?
For Mr. Wan and Mr. Whannell,
What are your favorite classic horror movies? Do you plan on working together in the future? Is horror is only genre you plan to work with? Do either of you have a Myspace?
I don't know why, but I'm the only person I know who enjoys the original Saw more than the sequels. I'm looking forward to Dead Silence, though I think Saw should have ended as a trilogy. Keep up the good work!

Hi James! How are you? Busy and tired after all of the terror in the making I'm sure. I just wanted to tell you that I am so happy and glad that you made a movie about Ventriloquist Dummies killing people. I am the ultimate fan of Chucky. Anything with dolls killing people I am all over it. I cherish the oldie but goodies such as Pupper Master and Demonic Dolls. To me the fact that dolls are killing people is the ultimate suspense and chilling plot of any good horror movie. I have seen Devil Doll and Dead of Night where the ventriloquist dummies just weren't scary enough to me. I have always wanted a ventriloquist dummy movie with them killing people. I used to ponder about it and tell my friends if someone came out with it it would be a blockbuster hit. I know the fear and terror that people feel when dolls come alive. The irony of it all is dolls are suppose to be beautiful and sweet and many a companion and friend. To know that the tables are turned and they are totally the opposite sends tingles down my back. Well after all of my praise to you for your ingenious mind. My question to you is what made you come up with this? Was it related to Saw because honestly the clown doll in Dead Silence looks 110 times better than the one in SAW. It almost reminds me of the clown in the first Poltergeist. And will you please make a Dead Silence sequel and consider other horror movies starring dolls! I can't get enough and I think you have the most brilliant mind in horror cinema these days to pull it off successfully. In case my comment is too long and you cannot write back. Thanks again for taking your time and consideration to read my thoughts. I wish you nothing but the best and I am your dedicated number one horror fan til the end~

my question is for both in relation to the saw film saw 3. "Why does jigsaw place candle wax on the table, and why does he give Amanda a portfolio, leading us to assume are more games and subjects, if he means to have her killed at the end?"
Big fan love the movies cant wait for dead silence and the rumors about saw 4.thanks for bringing a bit of imagination and creativity back to horror films.!.

Do either of you guys play video games / would either of you ever want to produce a video game?
