Rambo IV -- The First Pics Are Online

After seeing and loving Rocky Balboa, it's a lot harder for me to roll my eyes over the prospect of another Rambo film. That Sylvester Stallone looks ridiculous in these photos really can't be argued, however. We posted a fairly positive script review a while back that bodes well, and it's got a decent cast, but ... man. Seeing the 60 year-old Stallone in a mullet and a low-cut blouse, it's just too much. Most of these shots are of Stallone grimacing, but there's what appears to be a couple of action sequences in the mix as well. Rambo IV is currently referred to as John Rambo on imdb, a decision that was likely made after Rocky Balboa did well. At various points the film has been called Rambo IV: Pearl of the Cobra, Rambo IV: Holy War, Rambo IV: In The Serpent's Eye, and Rambo IV: End of Peace. At press time, the "powers that be" were not giving serious consideration to my choice: Rambo IV: Electric Boogaloo. Stallone is directing the film, which is shooting in Thailand. The new film is said to open with the highly disgruntled Vietnam vet being recruited by a group of missionaries to protect them against pirates. I smell a Johnny Depp cameo!

I hope rambo 4 is better than rocky balboa.
Rocky balboa was just barely better than rocky V which
was areguably one of the worst movies ever.
Hopefully Sly has one last good movie in the tank.

Almost sounds like Magnificent 7, but with a lot less heroes.
Maybe one of the old Clint Eastwood spaghetti westerns.

Now all we really need is to have Schwarzenegger and Stallone to collaborate on 'Contra' and we'll be all set.

Am I the only one who thinks he looks hideous here?
It looks like somebody dragged out their 70-year old mechanic, dyed his hair black, pumped him full of 'roids, and placed him in front of a camera.

Having given away my name to Dave Morrell when he needed to name a Green Beret colonel in the original 1972 book, "First Blood", I'm hoping that Col. Sam Trautman will not appear in this last gasp effort by Stallone. Richard Crenna is dead after all - my original hope to Dave was that my character would be played by Clint Eastwood if there was ever a movie, then it was supposed to be Kirk Douglas but ended up with the Real McCoys "star" at the last minute. Good on Dave for collecting more Rambo royalties from this likely loser of a movie, but let's let the Colonel rest in peace. Trautman blew Rambo's head off with a shotgun at the end of the original book so there never was a real sequel, just scripts thrown together by Stallone himself. Since Rocky lost his last fight, maybe Rambo will finally take a bullet as well.

Are you me? I actually liked Rocky Balboa, that movie was great. I've never really seen all of the rambos, but in this picture he really looks old, I think he was more fit in Rocky Balboa.

Im very exited about the new Rambo movie having just completed all the special features on the Rambo dvds including the commentaries. They have been very insightful and I have gained much appreciation for the trilogy. I was shocked to find out of Richard Crenna's death. He was very supportive of Rambo and Stallone, but life goes on and I'm very supportive of a new Rambo movie also. Rambo could not be made without Stallone, he is Rambo!
