Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures May Team for '300' Video Game

As part of a soon-to-close multi-million dollar deal, Legendary Pictures, the production company behind the recent mega-hit 300, and Warner Bros. are teaming up to enter another arena of production -- video games. According to Variety, Legendary Pictures, led by Thomas Tull and Warner Bros. will team up to produce and distribute a slate of video game titles to be based on as-yet unspecified Warner Bros. films. The new venture, known as Brash Entertainment, will be funded by private investors currently being courted by Tull and Legendary Pictures co-founder Bert Ellis and will be run by Mitch Davis and Nicholas Longano, former execs. of in-game advertising company Massive. At the moment, its not known if Warner Bros. will also be an investor in the company or simply handle game distribution in North America -- as they already do for companies such as British publisher Eidios. Even if the full extent of the partnership between Legendary Pictures and Warner Bros. isn't known at present, according to the article, there is one project they almost certainly intend to tackle -- a next gen game based on 300 for the XBox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii.
Even though the studio has already released a 300 game for the Playstation Portable, now that the film has become such a huge success, it seems the studio would love to see a much higher-profile game to better take advantage of the movie's young male demographic. That makes sense considering the game for the PSP was pretty bad and felt rushed. Now that they have a hit on their hands, I don't blame them for wanting to go back and make a better game. I, for one, look forward to playing it.

I left a message on the Myspace 300 page months ago about this very thing. I told them that they were making a mistake with the PSP, but does anyone listen to me?....NO! LOL! I am glad that they are going to go ahead with it but it is much too late now, the bubble will have burst by the time they are finished. If they want to work on tie-ins for future movies, I'd be willing to do some beta testing for them. Hint, hint, hint :)

Game play should be a blast, but aren't you pretty much guaranteed the "bad" ending?

well well.. since they have taken up the idea
i think ideal game for 300 is a 3rd person action/adventure title. The user should be able control any one of few main characters with each of them having a variable ending. For example : leonidas dies, the other guy comes back with a larger force, etc. The game's gotta have a FreeForm fighting system... Everyone remember Prince of Persia Warrior Within? Everyone practically died over the fighting system. So they should include some kick ass moves, insane combo's plus finishers :D thats gonna keep the game alive for a few years in ppl. Wat Else? hmmmm...OH HELL YA! BulletTime,Slo-Mo,Adrenaline Mode,Call it wat u want! its gotta be there!! i HAS to BE THERE! :D its the very essence of the game! And apart from the fact that it has a static plotline, that monotomy can be made forgot if the gameplay is as exciting as described above! So ppl wat do u think? any additions or something ive orgotten in my perspective?

I very much like the idea of a 300 video game becasue the PSP one was a letdown. If you look at the large-scale epics, you see that they all have large-scale video games

I very much like the idea of a 300 video game becasue the PSP one was a letdown. If you look at the large-scale epics, you see that they all have large-scale video games (LOTR, Star Wars, etc.)which had great success. I think it should be a role playing game because then you could create and build your own Spartan from the ground up, taking him all across Greece until he was ready to join the "Elite 300" (personal bodygaurd of King Leonidas). At this point you would be told that you were to accompany the King to the Hot Gates where the Battle of Thermoplae would ensue. You would fight your way through the missions until you were told to return to Sparta and re-tell the story of the battle (in escense you are Dilios...David Wenhem in the movie). You would then lead the Spartans in the final battle of the Greeco-Persian War...the Battle of Platea.
Please take this plea and those of the others into your plans for the video game

The idea of an xbox 360 version of "300" is a great concept, but there are a few things that the creators HAVE to put in the game. one, slow motion power modes. two, finishers on downed opponents. third, sheild combat (it just wouldnt be 300 without killing people with a sheild as well as a sword) last, correct weapon choice. in another spartan game I played, the spartans used warhammers, wtf! spears and swords should be the main focus, so that gameplay will be very good.
