Here Come the 'Spider-Man 3' Reviews
Filed under: Action, Fandom, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
Since Spider-Man 3 is premiering in Tokyo, like, right now, the reviews are starting to pour in. These aren't reviews from the premiere, but like here in the states, there are audiences who get to check it out prior to the main event. (Come tomorrow, I expect there to be a slew of reviews up around the net.) AICN has two of the first reviews up and, as expected, they're more than glowing. Seeing as both reviews include major plot spoilers (so much so that AICN had to delete a sentence from one review that told us exactly how the movie ends), I'll share with you some of the spoiler-free quotes. Check this out: "This is the most emotional, and epic entry in the series, and like its predecessors, it never loses sight that action is a bonus to the character drama, and not the main attraction, it really is amazing."
Here's another fantabulous quote (keep in mind this review was translated off a Chinese website): "Spider-Man 3 must be the best visual action blockbuster ever and outdo all its predecessors. It is really rare to see a better sequel these days, right?" As far as whether or not the third film sets up a fourth installment, the first reviewer felt Spidey 3 was more of a finale than a middle chapter. They write: "Raimi has proven himself a spider god thrice over now, and really I want this film to be the last one. It ends every major plot line and doesn't leave much open, albeit it doesn't really zip things shut either, but really this is a great ending." Apart from those quotes, that's all I can really show you -- before you head on over there, please be aware that both of these reviews provide tons of spoilerish plot details (though if you've seen all the trailers, pics and footage, then you pretty much know what's going to happen). Spider-Man 3 opens here on May 4.

Spider man review:
Just seen the super third sequel, our friendly neighbourhood webslinger is back with superb CGI, The emotive power is played so that we feel that superheroes are not so 2D (even if they are comic book characters) but just like Stan lee's comics,
Pete Parker is struggling with powerful emotions.
Spoiler alert...
(great to see Stan Lee and look out for the Bruce Campbell cameo!).
Spinning his web in Japan but on his way worldwide soon!

Unfortunately, Spiderman 3 is a disappointment. The fast and twisting camera fighting scene, too fast that you no longer care who is fighting who and at what moves. The story has no depth and draggy. The previous 2 spiderman episodes are better...

I just finished watching Spider-Man 3 and thought that it could have been better. Too many villians and too much love scenes. I believe that if the writers, director, and producers had stuck to a basic story-line the movie would have been more enjoyable. Don't get me wrong, I did enjoy watching the movie and have absolutely loved watching the previous two movies, but this one could have definately been better. Just a little recommendation, if a forth one is to be made, PLEASE try to leave out all the extra love stuff! I want to see an Action movie not a Romance.

well, id have to say that i have never been more let down in my life. this huge dissaster of a movie butchered the spiderman legand and killed all respect for director Raimi. If the huge gaps in plot line, awfull soap opea diolouge, poor character development, and the exagerated prolonged tangents, werent enough to ruin it, the ending leaves you questioning wheather the screen writters from the previous movies were replaced by a group of mentally challenged gradeschoolers. Very much unlike the first two movies, Spiderman 3 presented not only Peter Parker and Spiderman poorly, but the exessive amount of villans fell subject to disaster as well. After watching this movie i am left questioning as to weather its a joke, expecting the best for over a year i naturally anticipated the movie of the year, and i was saddly let down. It is a sad day for all spiderman fans.

i just saw the midnight showing at our theatre, and like most of the people above, i was let down. i am a huge spiderman fan, and i knew not to take the movie in a comic book sence, but still, there was too much stuff packed into 2 hours and 40 mins. the cgi though was incredible, and was one of the only things the movie had going for it. the movie tried covering years of comics and it was not possible. i think venom was portrayed nicely, his face was well made and i was shocked at that, unfortunately they neglected to add his drooping tounge. overall the movie was okay, dissappointing, but none the less i know i will buy for the sake of finishing the collection

Just watched it. I am on the fence. I DID like it, but they are going down the road the Batman franchise did. They are so panicy about getting those villians in that they ruined what could have been an AWESOME movie. Here is what I think...first, WTF with Gwen Stacy? She was dead LONG before Venom and really had NOTHING to do with the movie. Second, WTF with the asteroid? The second movie ended with the shuttle crash, why not use the cartoon version of Venoms origin to start the third film. COME ON...an asteroid..that happens to crash land where Parker is...Lastly and most importantly...they should have NEVER crammed all of those villians in one film. A single villian in the film would have been A LOT better. Instead, they tossed it all in a bowl and threw it out there. OK lastly this time, get rid of Dunce...MJ was HOT where she is not..sorry but it is true. If Toby leaves go ahead and replace BOTH of them. I'm out..until next time.

I am a HUGE Spidey fan, and if you’re smart you will save your money. To be frank, I don't even think it would be worth while renting on DVD! lol ...I just came from the theatre and I am practically speechless with disappointment :(
This movie actually wants me to stop being a Spidey fan.........and yes it IS that bad!
This movie had so much potential, but the director and/or screen writers ruined it with all the mushy and practically homosexual Spiderman.
The special effects were the best part, and quite frankly there were not very many scenes. They focused on the "love story" and if you ask me I highly doubt that the director has ever read a Spiderman comic book, and if he has he did a very poor job interpreting the story!
This director should be abolished from making action movies! I'm surprised that he didn't name it something like "Brokeback Spidey" because he made the character out to be almost gay.
I have wasted too much time on this movie already so I am cutting this off, but wanted to warn any "real" Spidey fan ahead of time! SAVE YOUR MONEY!....I WISH I DID!
If you know nothing about the Spiderman character, and want to see a love story with a few action scenes and some pretty good special effects then this is a movie for you.
Cheers!

What the fuck? most dissapointing thing i've ever watched. Venom! the one reason i wanted to see this film, is in it for about 10 mins. Eddie brock! played by eric from "that 70's show" skinny nerdy guy? has sam ever read the comics!. What the hell is up with spiderman forgiving the sandman? after he pumbles him into the ground?. pathetic, mary jane turns out to be a slag, venom turns out to be a wimp, peter turns out to be a dick, and the sand man doesnt know what he's doing half the time! the only charicter played well is harry osborn!.
next time i see sam raimi im going to bitch slap him. Bruce Campbell kicked ass too.
and anywhoo i can say luckily tickets were sold out for this movie, so my friend snuck me in and i didnt have to pay for this rubish movie!

WEll, first of all spiderman 3 was a huge let down for fans and non fans of the comic books. The casting of venom could of been the worst part of it all, and the fact that hes barely in the movie. The character plot line and the execution of good diologe was very absent fromt his film, and i almost think Rami could have been somehow mentally impared while directing this movie. Everything about it was bad, i thought and it didnt capture the essense of spiderman or who he is.
If you didnt see this movie yet, go into it with knowing you wil be let down. Hollywood and their tainted directors ruined this franchise; however, there are still good comic book writers to give us spidey fans still good fun. In conclusion, this movie failed on all fronts, and i hold Rami directly responsible, because he had all the power in making it. A sad story for spidey fans and good movie fans abroad

Obviously most people here saw a different movie than I did. This movie was awesome. Peter was played great. The symbiote was perfect. The way Peter behaved is exactly how a super powered dweeb without a conscience would act. Eddie was perfect. Both as an ambitious "lying to get the job" photographer and as Venom. And don't forget that it's Venom and not Carnage in this movie. I didn't like the way MJ's character developed but ya know, can't like everyone. But without a doubt the character who grew the most in this movie, let alone the whole series, was Harry. Harry turned out to be the noblest hero of all. Did Raimi change some things around? You bet he did. Then again, how many Marvel Universes are there? Open your mind and go see it.

I really can't believe some of these comments...written by people who claim to love Spidy and claim to be huge fans and then proceed to slag and hurl abuse at the latest installment, and not only the movie, but the actors, director and script writers. Maybe 3 wasn't as good as it could be, but these people put a hell of a lot work into it...Raimi was and is a huge fan of Spidy, it was said at the start, and he has put more into this franchise than you ever have...I, for one, did enjoy the Spiderman 3.
I liked the humour, I thought it was a nice break from the otherwise heavy emotional stuff. CGI was excellent. Would've liked to have much more character development, in Sandman, Venom especially, Peter and MJ. Harry was great, but wtf with the butler? Acting was scrappy at times, and I felt that the ending could have provided more closure, expecially for the villians. The fight scenes were classic, not a bit disappointing. I entered the screening not expecting perfection, after all, the first two movies contained one villian each and they were awesome, this one had 2 and a bit - think logically: something had to give to allow the extra. I can truthfully say that I walked out of that cinema satisfied, not feeling that it was a waste of my money or time, rather quite happy actually.

I haven't even seen it yet and I'm already sweating. I happen to hold these comic movies to a high standard, in which Ghost Rider, The Hulk, and other comic movies have failed miserably. X 3 ruined their lifelong fan in me, and now I hear Spiderman 3 could do the same. Literally, if this movie fails my only hope to have a continued awesome adventure legacy is if Batman Begins 2 rocks. Superman.........I'm tired of him getting his invincible ass kicked by nerds and rocks.

Okay, this movie definitely could have been better. I agree 100% that if they broke these villians into two movies it would have been so much better. Everyone is talking about the drama and mushy plot or whatever, but if you remember, the other 2 instalments were like that too, the difference in this one was that because there were so many villans they didn't get enough development and so with all those emotional scenes, you really didn't care and it just seemed awkward (to me).
I could forgive EVERYTHING if they had NOT made 'evil' Spidey into looking like an emo kid. No offense, some of my best friends are emo kids but seriously... there's nothing intimidating about it and it made me laugh, haha. There was way too much dancing in it, what was Sam thinking? He must have just discovered Swing, I mean the Jazz Club and the twist in the kitchen? Really...?
It was a good movie though, despite some throw backs. Great action scenes and they kept the whole relationship thing going good, especially at the French Restaurant. Not a total disaster, but could have been better.

well......... I will say that it was horrible. I will not beat around the bush on this. If your going to make a huge film, at least you make sure the extras can act!!!! and when did spidey (if you want to call him that ) actually turn gay?? because tobey was running on estrogen!!!!! until the black suit!!!!!
my rating
nothing out of everything!!!!!!!

This flick couldn't decide on being an Action movie or a sequel to Bridges of Madison County. Everyone is crying how much they love each other, even the butler gets into it. Ridiculous. The only thing missing was the sickly daughter crying in love for her gerbil. Maybe we'll get to see that in the unedited 4hr DVD special release.
Gawwd - this stank.

I am going to keep this very short. For anyone on this board that thinks that this movie was good in any way has probably never picked up a comic book in their life and you are the reasons why the film industry keeps pushing this garbage down our throats, so to all of you simple minded people....you suck.
