The thing I like most about this poster is that I don't feel obliged to point out to you, once again, when the film opens. It's right there in big bold print. One thing I find a little odd is that Helena Bonham Carter, who you have to agree is a star, if not a major star, is not getting a prominent place in the press materials I've seen so far for the film. Yes, I know they clearly chose to focus on the kids for this poster, and I don't expect anyone to get bigger billing than the three main kids, obviously, but Bonham Carter is certainly a bigger name and a more recognizable face than whoever that scowling gentleman is on the right side, one down from Emma Watson. Can't the adults squeeze in here somewhere? Oh well. Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix opens on (see above.)

I'll assume you aren't familiar with the plot or characters, because otherwise you wouldn't be asking the question. The "gentleman" is the character Neville Longbottom, a pretty significant character in the series, and especially this book. Also, the basic plot is that the KIDS rebel, so it would be more than a little weird to have Helena Bonham Carter (an adult, and a bad-guy at that)there. And to that end, don't expect to see very much of HBC - her character, up till now, has been a pretty minor one.

The whole idea of the book is that the kids rebel and the adults, well, do their own thing. I think the poster is quite amazing, actually. It shows the spirit of the book.

Totally agree with Jordy. In the HP world, and especially in this book, the adults bad and good are little more than set dressing. Neville is a hugely important main character especially in Phoenix.

Please have knowledge prior to posting something like this. This post could have focused on how exceptional this poster looks rather than make some pointless, brainless rant about Helena Carter. Ryan learn a bit about the story prior to making a post like this please. This poster looks great.

More to the point, the books have been clearly pointing to Neville being at least as important in the fight against Voldemort as Harry. Each book has built his importance up a little bit, and the movies have done a good job of keeping his important scenes in while excising other, more popular, scenes to keep the running time shorter. that also points to Neville becoming very significant by the end of the series. My family will be happy to see him on the poster -- Neville's ultimate fate has been a subject of discussion in our family for quite a while now. And if I recall correctly, Phoenix is when we really find out about his connections to the Potter family's story.

Actually, the adults haven't appeared in any of the primary one-sheets since the first movie.

Don't recognize Neville? Never seen these movies apparently. That's a pretty sad indictment for a movie critic to not recognize the characters of a major movie franchise.

I imagine more posters are going to be released with the Order of the Phoenix, bad guys, and adults.

I agree with the person commenting on Carter's role in the film. Order of the Phoenix is centered around Harry Potter and his friends (especially Neville who, other than Harry and Ron, is probobly the most important male child/young adult character in the series. Though I guess one might argue that the other weasleys are more important). Carter, in fact, is mostly important in relation to Neville. I can't remember if they explain that in the fourth movie like they do in the books, so I won't explain. At any rate, I don't know why adults, except Voldemort or Dumbledore, would ever appear on the press material. They just aren't as important.

That's true David. The first one had Maggie Smith (McGonagall), Richard Harris (Dumbledore), Robbie Coltrane (Hagrid) and Alan Rickman (Snape) as well as all the younger actors.
In saying that, i agree that it is pretty sad that the adults hardly get any "poster time" as they are fantastic actors.
However, this poster sets the mood of the book very well. It's dark and these are the key members of the DA. Neville is amazingly important in this book and i don't think he should be reffered to as the "scowling gentleman".

For someone running a movie board your posts on this, The origninal Star Wars trailer and the auteur theory certainly show a lot of unfamiliarity with movies.

Give the guy a break...He's a movie critic, but probably not a big Harry Potter fan. And Neville looks so much more grown-up in the poster, it took me a second to figure it was him along with Luna.
