Actually, although there's a reference to Connors in the first one, he doesn't appear until Spiderman 2.

No way guys. There's not a drop of validity to this story, Raimi hasn't even started to consider if he's in it for part four; and should he decide to ditch the series, Columbia hasn't even found a screenwriter yet.

David Koepp is currently writing Spiderman 4 script, so the story could be true.

I believe Kingpin, Lizard, and Carnage will be the next villains. But... I know that Connor still has some of the Symbiote of Venom, so unless that Connor agrees to give it to someone or has it stolen from him (Which I doubt)Carnage may not be in it. Lizard, is Connor, who tries to regrow his arm with the help of reptilian DNA, and Kingpin, is one of Spideys greatest enemies in the comics... Kingpin!

who would play kingpin what Micheal Clarke Duncan from daredevil gets out of jail and turns his sites to running the crime in new york so does that mean we need a spider-man daredevil thing now.....BUT NO BEN AFFLECK...anyway better go back to basics with 4 the hardcore fans are not fans of three so far so if your going to do something to win them back COME ON SONY BLOW OUR *$&@*$^ MINDS

I seriously doubt they would go darker and put Carnage into the mix...The likeliness of them even doing a 4th movie regardless of the villians is low anyways.
But if they did make a 4th, no way would they have carnage. They want to keep it a mostly childrens movie.

sorry,but though i would like the lizard in spidy 4 it would be stupid because the lizard is in spider man 3 game so it would be abit weird to explain his origins again with a newer game and movie.carnage would make ALOT of sence cause venom was in spider man 3 and they probably will continue the storie

isnt it a bit weird to say that the series is a childs movie?cos i mean,its a 12 or 12A and venom was in spiderman 3.and when harry gets his glider blades stuck through him(kinda like his dad)that would be frightning for a child and carnage in the cartoon series barly killed any1 so i think if they keep to death limits it'd be good for kids.

Venom will make a comeback in Spider-man 4 as Eddie Brock once again, since he didn't die in 3. We will see Venom as a greater nemesis in 4, the introduction of Lizard, aka Dr. Conners, and character set-up for Carnage. The character set-up for Carnage will be similar in most respects to the set-up of Venom in 3.

@7 What are you talking about? The likelihood of a fourth movie is low?! It's been confirmed by both Raimi and Sony. It is true that Raimi and Maguire might not be involved. Sony has said that they are making it anyway.

What's a better way of keeping a franchise alive than promoting the sequel during the premier of the movie.

I like how the idea that the Lizard is someone we've seen before.

I have a theory pertaining to the villains mentioned above:

Let's say that Sony finds a way to turn Curt Connors into Lizard. He morphs the small bit of alien symbiote left into a redder, deadlier form than before. Meanwhile, Cletus Kasady rots in jail, bitter about his encounter with Spider-Man that left him there. Lizard breaks him out and convinces him to become the "host" to the new red symbiote. Thus, Carnage is formed, and Spidey must stop Lizard before his new creation is unleashed upon the city. It's brilliant.

I'd vote for Spidey 4 but after a bunch of other Marvel movies come out. You don't need a reboot, but jump ahead a bunch of years when Peter was not involved with MJ. Do a Black Cat, Lizard, King Pin whatever. Just get a new director, screenwriter and cast.
Jake Glyenhall is obvious as Parker/Spiderman.
Eva Mendes from Ghost Rider would be a great Black Cat.
I'd want a BIGGER King Pin than Michael Clarke Duncan (wider maybe, not taller).
And a director who won't cave in to the studio.
If Spidey 4 does happen, who would you want to see in it and directing?

Vulture was slated to be in Spiderman 3 and they even did some costume tests with him, before pushing him out of the film for Venom. Could have been interesting, maybe they will use him in 4...

#8 & #16 - Stop being naive. Videos games have no bearing on what the movie execs decide to do with movies. They are considered an advertising/merchandizing gimmick. So who cares if Lizard is in game #3? Video games rarely have a string of continuity that follow through them anyway.

As for the actual topic at hand... Of course they are going to make Spidey 4. It might be dismal, but it would still make a bunch of money. I would love to see Lizard, Rhino and Carnage, but I believe that Venom is truly gone and it would be cheap to bring him back so there will probably never be a Carnage.

Sam Rami and the cast are saying they might not be back so they can get more money for the next movie. I think Tobie was good for the first Spider-Man Movie, when he was a nerd in high school, but the movies would be better now if they replaced him. Who would you pick?
