Get Ready for a New 'Terminator' Trilogy
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Remakes and Sequels
Former producing partners Mario Kassar and Andrew Vajna have sold the merchandising, licensing and film rights to The Terminator to another pair of partners who are just now dipping their toes into the movie biz. (The price tag was not mentioned.) According to Variety, a company called Halcyon now owns the property, and they're planning to re-ignite the franchise without the involvement of James Cameron or Arnold Schwarzenegger. A pair of people who are still connected to Terminator 4 are screenwriters Michael Ferris and John Brancato, who also wrote Terminator 3 and have the T4 script already finished and under lock and key.In related news, that Sarah Connor Chronicles series, which is also an offshoot of The Terminator, is still moving along quite well. Word is that Fox might announce the pick-up sooner rather than later. But back to the movie stuff: It looks like the fourth Terminator movie will focus on a thirty-ish John Connor as he struggles through a bleak future while inspiring people to fight back against the amazingly evil robots. But John should already know that, only a few years down the line, he'll be sending Michael Biehn back in time to protect Linda Hamilton from The Terminator. Yeah, so between the new TV series and this proposed movie trilogy (yes, trilogy), I'm guessing we'll have a lot to talk about, Terminator-wise, over the next few years.

I would love to see Michael in this new Terminator.....why not set him up as
Sarah's grown son? I know some would find
that odd, but why would it be?

I think that Thomas Jane from the movie The Punisher would fit this role better than anyone. His cold stare that he has and his straight face acting would fit great in this role. I hope they choose this actor well cause this choice could make or break the future of the terminator. This change has perfect timing, they need to change this up.

Oh, puuuuhhLEEEZE! ANOTHER terminally-boring "Terminator" movie? I thought these Hollywood elitists were so gung-ho on the environment! Don't they care that all these explosions pollute the air, and destroy the ozone?
From an artistic standpoint, consider this: Any time a movie is loaded with "action" sequences, explosions and special effects, that's a sure sign of crummy writing. Sure, they'll try to shore up a lousy script by stitching it together with tired one-liners and occasional phony sentiment; but this kind of movie still sucks.

not having Arnold is a risky move yeah the movie can have all the same elements as the previous terminators but without the big name draw.
The people that do see it will see it just to see how it compares to the Arnold versions.

I feel that with the right casting and script that this could be a good film. I would like to see Vin Diesel, John Cena, as a new terminator series. As far as a John Connor-- we need someone that can pull off the dark side of John Connor. J.C. has grown up knowing that the world would end and that carries alot of weight and it changes a person. Casting for this character would be crucial to the success of the new series! Whatever the studio does..PLEASE Cast a Great John Connor that can carry all three new films and not let this be like the BATMAN series in that we always have a new Bruce Wayne to get used to again and again. Story and casting is everything in a film....I know...as a producer myself!

The third movie was not so good and had some big, big holes in the plot as they changed the mainframe concept to an internet one. In addition the sad long face the actor playing John Connors was walking around with the whole movie DID NOT WORK. It just made him look like a whimp. He had no guts this ws bad for a guy who is going to be the humans leader a fighter who teaches others how to fight back. No Arnold no movie! NO, sorry not going to spend my money on the sequel after the pitiful excuse for the last installment.
