'Sicko' Key Art and Photos: Exclusive First Look
Filed under: Documentary, Celebrities and Controversy, The Weinstein Co., Politics, Michael Moore, Summer Movies
So yes, you've probably heard more about Michael Moore in the last two days than you ever needed to hear in, say, a month: First there was the announcement of the June 29 release date for Moore's health-care documentary Sicko, then the news that Moore is under federal investigation for taking Sept. 11 workers to Cuba, and let's not forget the Weinstein Company's hiring of a political strategist to run interference when Moore inevitably gets sued.
But finally we have something actually related to the movie itself -- yup, we've snagged key art from the poster for Sicko. We're told that the tagline for the poster, when it's finished, will be "This might hurt a little," and while I can't wait to see what sort of treatment the title is going to get, I have to say the sight of Michael Moore pulling on the rubber gloves is already creeping me out enough. (Click on the art for a larger image.)
Want Moore? (Sorry, couldn't resist.) Check out three exclusive photos from Sicko, after the jump.

That key art is atrocious. Sicko is supposed to be a serious look at the state of mental illness and welfare and yet the key art makes it look like an American Pie-style comedy. Yet another money-grubbing exercise by Michael Moore to build on his multi-millions. Just like he did with Farenheit 9/11 attacking US interest in the Middle East and the Iraq war and yet Michael Moore himself owns shares in, guess who, Haliburton!

Is it not a great country we live in, when you can tear it down with a few anti-American movies and make a buck off of it. Does anyone know how to report the good that happens in this country? I will not count on mikey to do anything positive in his movies, but you have the power to shut him down, just don't go to or rent them. We can raise cain about Coca Cola changing its formula, but we don't do anything about the social demise of our nation! One day you will wake to a world you won't like and you can say, "I'm glad I did nothing."

Norman put down the crackpipe- if it's such a great country we can actually you know talk about our problems rather than having to resort to bullshit defensive posturing like 'it's a great country.' that sounds like something a country coming in second place might say to puff up a lack of penis endowment.

Only far leftists would hype a Michael Moore movie like it is the second coming. Its a freaking "documentary" and probably a shoddy one at that if you go by Michael Moore's history of playing loose with the facts.

Freaking Jesus, you morons!!! Not one of you has the brain power to admit Moore is just a film maker. He talkles dificult topics that none of you gives a shit about(car makers, gun control, the war, Bush, Health care monopoly)
While you guys are home jerking off, he's bringing awareness about things that need to be looked at.
I am not defending him (I don't even like the guy, but he sure makes controversial films that makes us think) Who else is doing that? But you freaks rather see "Hey Dude Where's My Car?"
Do you even know the power of film?
Maybe "Sicko" will be so powerful that the sorry health care sytem we have in this contry will be shaken to the core, and be afordable to everyone.
In this film Mister Moore took sick people to Cuba to get free health care. Now what does that tell you?
Also, why is it we can find money to fund a war, but not for education. Maybe Michael was right about the Bushies.
He was certainly right about the gun issue.
Anyway, I ask you you geeks when was the last time you felt strongly about anything?, and had the guts to film it and share it with the world?
Dito!!
You guys make me Sicko.

We are Americans & we love this country...
How many more people have to die because of No Gun control (recent Virginia Tech!), Bad Policies by the current Admins. (War in Iraq) and finally Our health care system that is almost a joke...
People like Micheal Moore despite their own personal interests, at least have the guts to raise the issue & make us question the problems this country is facing...
Last time I checked, our founding fathers & constitution encouraged us to question, challenge & correct problems that this great nation & country is facing! There is absolutely nothing wrong with that...
America will always find a right way to correct the problems & we are America...
God Bless & Peace

Listen, I do consider myself to be on the political left, but I have also studied Cuba extensively. In 2004, I went to Cuba. I wanted so badly to believe in Socialism and in Fidel. However, I couldn't have been more disturbed at how the so-called socialist system treated its own Cuban people. They have NOTHING. No vitamins, no aspirin, no anesthetics. I mean zilch, zero, nada.
Moore's Sicko takes people to Cuba to prove our healthcare system doesn't work. Yet, the cold reality is that Cubans barely can find enough food day by day, let alone find spare Ibuprofen or vitamins lying around!
Sure, they have good doctors. But, guess what? They all left to "assist" in Venezuela or Honduras or wherever and they have no intentions of going back to Cuba. Why?! Because there's no way to practice good healthcare without medicine! This is a Fidel/U.S. Embargo issue, but Moore is doing a huge disservice by distorting the truth in this fashion using Cuba as his example.
Fidel loves to show the world how effective and able his system is. Therefore, when Moore's cameras roll, the old bearded one will have made sure to have every single pharmaceutical available and latest medical gaget at the ready. It's Fidel's Cuba and it's EdTV. baby. Just remember that! If Moore and Co. want people to know the truth (or as close as one can ever get to that concept), they should spend a month or more in Cuba living like Cubans. Let him stand in the lines, let him try to eat (or starve) using the libreta (rationing booklet)alone, let him hope that the roof over his head doesn't collapse, and, yes, let him break a leg and see how great their system truly is. After all that, I'll be more than happy to entertain the subject of health care in Cuba or lack thereof.
Respectfully,
Sara

That so true... All he did was trying to change people's mind about the war and about 9/11. He tried but it didn't work. Of course A lot of people died in the war after 2004. And let's not forget Katrina. So don't blame Michael Moore for something he didn't do.

The screen-shots looks great, the poster however looks atrocious. Hopefully that's not the poster art the studio decides to go with. Moore already overpowers his films enough, having him front and center just takes away from the actual issue he's trying to present.
I was lucky enough to see about 15 minutes of Sicko last year at the Toronto International Film Festival. It was outrageous and funny without being too serious.
I was a big fan of Bowling for Columbine and hated Fahrenheit 9/11 and from what I saw it seems like Sicko will be more of the former rather than the latter. I hope it stays that way.

It's not about how "good" the Cuban health care system is -- it's about how there is ZERO health care in THIS country if you have a low paying job or no job. I personally know someone who's CORBA ran out and they need a doctor for multiple issues, but can't afford one. If the government can't provide even basic health care, then what's the purpose of a government?

Love all the flag waving. How about the fact that our health service ISN'T except for the wealthy who have been getting all the goodies for the last 20 year. Latest issue of AARP states that you have a 40% greater chance of dying over 65 using medicare than if you were using the VA. 40% folks. Of course thats from a pinko rag no doubt. Doesn't this speak of a damanged system and the need for reform and truth? So keep on waving that piece of cloth that yoiu have removed meaning from.. Hurrah for Michael Moore and all those who speak out!

I think the reason people get pissed at Michael Moore is that he puts up a mirror of reality that destroys peoples quixotic fantasies. Do you really believe that this country (read government) gives two cents about you? As long as your taxes are paid, and you keep your noise level down, they are happy. So continue about your lemming-like little lives. Watch TV, don't think for yourselves, eat lots of processed foods, drive gas gussling suvs, and don't look behind their curtin. And you poorer ones, keep sending us your youngsters to die for us. Thank you.

OK, so the real truth HURTS, that has been a well known fact for years; not that anyone would ever admit to such a thing.
Also, while Moore may be the "perfect American Opportunist" and he does this very well.
Obviously he is able to "slap" us with the truth and those who can laugh at the humor he blends into the facts are well aware of the facts that Moore presents. Those who can't are most likely in"denial".
Whenever I see one of his documentaries, I laugh, and yet I am truly horrified that the "general" American population hasn't seen these truths, let alone want to recognize them. And then it can be depressing that I am raising children to live in this "messed up" reality we call society.
I am so glad we live in America where people like are are actually 'allowed' to show us the truth and still be alive and free to claim he can.
However, it is pathetic that with all our richness, we still want to act like a 'third world' country by not allowing our children the best in an education as children or as adults in college. We seem to be "stuck" with the fact that it is still the rich who can afford a an decent education, proper medical care, and decnt treatment of the elderly.
The old saying "don't blame the messenger" should apply to Moore, get angry with those responsible, not that it is always Bush, but not with Moore as he is the messenger. Make those responsible, 'get their act' together, they are the perpetrators, NOT the messenger.

I'm gonna keep this short and simple. Most of the negative comments on here about M.Moore are from ignorant, trailer trash, paranoid, right wing fanatics. In there minds Bush is a hero. This is what I say, when you have no health insurance, don't complain. When theres a cure for an illness through stem cell research, don't receive it if you think it is so bad.The world will be better off without you contaminating the gene pool anymore than you have.......Lots of love...Brian

This is the best country in the world. Our healthcare system is great. The war in Iraq is going swell. There is no problem with gun control. Tell this Micheal Moore guy to take a hike. He is just causing more polarization. If we just leave these issues under the rug we would all get along fine.
God Bless America!!!
