First Look at Timothy Olyphant as 'Hitman' -- See 5/18 Update
Filed under: Action, Games and Game Movies, Images
Sexy actor Timothy Olyphant has been amping up the machismo lately. Ignoring his stint in Catch and Release, he's made a tougher name for himself with Deadwood, and is sure to raise some brows when he chases down John McClane in Live Free or Die Hard. I am, therefore, really hoping that he follows in Bruce Willis' footsteps, and finds The Hitman to be his catapult to action hero and lustdom. I've followed his career for a while now and it's about time for people to stop saying "Who?" when I mention his name. If the first look at his stint as Agent 47 is any indication, my wish should come true.I have to admit, I've never played the game, but looking from the pictures to that face to the left (which you can see fully here) -- he looks pretty spot-on to me. For the other Hitman-ignorant out there, the premise is that Agent 47 is a professional assassin "whose most powerful weapons are his nerve and a resolute pride in his work" -- but I'm sure the big guns help too. He gets embroiled in a political takeover, and then has to figure out who set him up and why. Of course, he's also sidetracked by "a beautiful, damaged girl." One of the guys chasing him will be Scottish actor Dougray Scott, and early script reviews said that it was "a testosterone-laced action-packed thriller." But since I'm a newbie to the Hitman world, what do you fans out there think of Mr. Olyphant as Agent 47? Is he looking the part?
*5/18 Update -- The Olyphant Hitman pics have been removed at the urgent request of the studio. Hopefully, we'll have something more official to bring you soon.

I'm willing to bet good money that more guys play the Hitman series than women, so when we see a post that says "First look at Timothy Olyphant as Hitman" the last thing we're expecting it to start with is "Sexy actor Timothy Olyphant..." My excitement at seeing the pics was completely deflated as soon as I started reading - If you think that sort of crap is pertinent, go write for Us Weekly.

Olyphant's been on my radar since Go. He owned that flick and he was the bomb in The Girl Next Door. I really want him to become a success (much like William Fitchner).
Unfortunately, Hitman was a stupid game (as are most) and the translation to film will suck (as all video game to film adapations do).

Good choice of words there... your "excitement" was... "deflated" was it?
Yet I'm sure the endless amount of space dedicated to Angelina Jolie's breasts in Tomb Raider, or Famke Janssen in X-Men, or Jenifer Garner as Elektra, or Kirsten Dunst as Mary Jane, or any other woman in a movie based on a medium that is more male-oriented is completely pertinent.
Homophobic and sexist. You must have to beat 'em off with a stick.

LOVE Olyphant as an actor, but this is a horrible casting decision. Even though he pretty much played the same role in The Transporter, I think Statham (or someone of his mold) should have been considered.

Wow Chris way to crucify Ray for his comment. I thought he was rather clear that he was hoping for a little more substance on the movie and felt he got Tigerbeat instead. Where did the homophobia and the sexism come in until you started with the insults?

Hmm t, could it be the final line of his comment? It's a blog post pointing to pictures from the set, not an in-depth analysis of the movie. Yet because the poster put her own thoughts, he jumped down her throat was suddenly NOT interested in the pictures?
Yet I don't see people attacking any of the posts where the sexiness of actresses is mentioned. So anyone who comments on it here but not there is showing some sort of sexist tendencies.

This guy isn't that young but in the picture he has such a baby face, he looks like a soft kid. Someone tougher would have been a better pick, his face looks like he has never seen a day of hardship. Daniel Craig in James Bond would drown this guy in a urinal. Maybe the makeup will make him look tough.
