Warners Prepping 'He-Man' for Big Screen, Source Says

Wait, so He-Man is happening? While a big-screen He-Man project has gone back-and-forth a number of times (at one point, both John Woo and M. Night Shyamalan were attached), AICN claims they know exactly what's going on. According to them, Joel Silver has climbed onboard as producer and newbie scribe Justin Marks has been assigned the task of turning in a workable script. Don't know who Justin Marks is? He's the dude that David Goyer's wife discovered, thus landing him the gig writing that SuperMax flick (aka Green Arrow Goes to Prison). Not only that, but he's also attached to write a big-screen version of Voltron (seems someone professed his love for cheesy '80s action icons during one or two pitch meetings.)
If true, this probably means current He-Man scribe Adam Rifkin is no longer involved in the film. So when he said last month that the film was going to get made, he was being truthful -- it's being made, just not with him. It's also important to note that Warner Bros. has taken charge of this monster, which means those rumors about Legendary Pictures being involved weren't so far-fetched. Ah, but what about the one that claimed Brad Pitt's name was circling the starring role? Well, since then his reps have declined knowing anything about it. However, seeing as the studios have been thinking "outside the box" regarding superhero casting as of late (Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Ed Norton as The Hulk), I wouldn't be surprised if Pitt's name shows up again down the line. We need someone who's blonde and hella strong. Who would you choose to play He-Man?

Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson with a blond wig. Or the Governator, but he's up there in Hogan's age bracket.

why wouldnt this movie need to be made?? The material has so much potential. I'm a closet a heman fan and I have been eagerly awaiting a redo of the 80's crapfest with dolph lundgren ( though skeletor was pretty cool). I am not happy with the current writer or producer for that matter whom are supposdely attached to the project. This material is good enough to be helmed by the likes of James Cameron, Peter Jackson, or Spielberg. If anyone of those names got behind He-man then it would be an epic, action packed, cinematica blockbuster.

Masters of The Universe the movie absolutely needs to be made, the property has so much potential its crazy, there is enough material to make at least 4 movies. We just need a good script and someone who mixes the sword and sorcery with the sci-fi aspect properly. Also maybe the new movie should go back to the rootes of the property and go darker than the 80's cartoon? Hopefully they cast someone decent for He-Man and maybe pick Frank Langella as the voice for Skeletor, he was ace in the old movie. We also need the Adam to He-Man transformation, Battle Cat,Orko, a proper battle between good and evil, a proper Castle Grayskull and finally see Snake Mountain. This property so needs to make it on the big screen!

i recall jason lewis, who played smith on "sex in the city" was mentioned back when john woo was involved, and that's a pretty good choice. paul walker wouldn't be bad either.
but the real question is, who will be the voice of cringer?

Well being a Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson fan...he has the build, the sex appeal (for us women of course) and the potential to carry this role.
I say why not?
Alternative to him...Brad Pitt

JOEL SILVER TO PRODUCE HE-MAN.
Now that Legendary Pictures is not producing the He-Man movie right now so it's up to Joel Silver who has picked up the rights to bring He-Man back to the movies.Silver can pick any actor to play He-Man so Travis Fimmel should be the best choice to play He-Man as an idea.Justin Marks is writing the script for the film so Silver and Marks will be talking to Mattel (the company who is resonable for He-Man toys)on working on the rights for the film.
The 1987 film Masters of the Universe with Dolph Lundgren was a box office bomb with awful storyline and cheesy special effects.
This remake will be a good start restarting the franchise.
Thank You.

Well I can wait for bigger news of this He-Man film but I do hope that the baddies are some of the classics. I would love to see Beast Man, Whiplash, Tri Klops or Trap Jaw make it into the plot they were always cool characters especially Whiplash & Tri Klops.
