You Asked for It: 'The Sims' Movie is Coming
Filed under: 20th Century Fox, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Games and Game Movies
I'm going to say a phrase and then I want you to close your eyes and imagine what sort of movie that phrase would make. OK, ready? Here we go: "The Sims Movie." Let it sink in for a bit. Are your eyes closed? Good. Now imagine a live-action 90-minute movie in which all the characters do is lounge around the house, take a few showers, pee a lot, cook food, call people, wash toilets, work out, buy furniture, pee some more, woo neighbors, put out fires, dance strangely, collect mail, pee once more, read a book, and then walk outside yelling Buuu-fwoobadooo-mWAH! to anyone within earshot. Sound like fun? Well then Fox has a movie for you. (Oh, and I know you were cheating. You can't read movie blogs with your eyes closed!)According to Variety, 20th Century Fox has acquired the rights to The Sims, and not only are they actually planning to make a movie out of it, but they've already hired a producer (John Davis) to oversee and a screenwriter (Brian Lynch) to translate all the floobadoo-fwahs into actual dialog. For those who choose to pay attention to such things (like me), John Davis produced movies like Norbit, Eragon, Fat Albert and Garfield 2. Yeah. Variety claims that Mr. Lynch was a writer on Scary Movie 3, but the IMDb doesn't seem to agree with the trade paper on that point. (Then again, the Scary Movie flicks have more writers than The New York Times, so I imagine it's tough to keep track.)
So yeah. A Sims movie. We can't wait for the

This is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Hopefully this movie will bomb big-time and that Davis character will stop making these piece of crap films.

Considering that The Sims has no main characters, no plots, and very little in the way of iconic imagery, I can't even begin to imagine what this thing is going to be like. Oh wait, yes I can: crap.

I just hope what they put on the screen does justice to the game and Will Wright. I'd hate for the Sim name to be associated with a movie bomb.

I think it would be a great idea. How about extending Pleasantview's story into a full comedy movie? For example: After Bella Goth gets abducted, Dina Callainte makes moves on Bella's brother, who then dies, she then goes to Bella's husband (now Dina's brother in law) to try and swoon him. Simultaniously, Cassandra now planning for her wedding with Don, starts becoming suspicious about Don, and tries to follow him around, who finds Don with his maid, a big argument ensues. After Brandi Broke discovers a way to bring her parents back from the dead by phoning the Grim Reaper, and Betty wants to know where her best friend Bella has gone. Also after discovering Don with the maid, Mary Sue now finds her husband, Daniel with the same maid. Now wanting answers Betty joins a sci fi blog and meets General Buzz Grunt who says he saw a mysterious woman in a red evening dress wandering about Strangetown after a UFO crash and the woman was taken to Area 5.1, after Betty tries to break into Area 5.1 to save Bella, in the meantime Don and Daniel try to win back their wives hearts and they do anything for it. Dina makes her move on Mortimer, (Bella's husband) until after Betty saves Bella from Area 5.1 from crazy scientists and the army and get back to Pleasantview just before Dina and Mortimer "WhooHoo" and throws Dina out of the house. Obviously, there would be more to it, but it's in brief.
So is my idea good or bad?
