Brand New Trailer for 'Captivity'
Ah Captivity, the plucky yet controversial little movie that announced its upcoming release with some billboards that a few people found objectionable, bounced back pretty well with some new art and the rest of the goodies that go into a promotional campaign for a film like this. And although its release date seems to jump around a bit -- now July 13th if you're keeping score at home -- the film has still managed to generate quite a bit of buzz inspite of, or due to, the controversy. Previously when we gave you info about this Elisha Cuthbert starrer in which she's basically imprisoned and abused for ninety minutes, we were able to relate some of the exciting plot details and give you a look at the first one-sheet for the film. Now, thanks to Cinemablend we can share with you a brand new trailer for the film fresh from the minds at After Dark Films. This time the trailer makes the film look less like a rip-off of Hostel, as they rightly point out at the site, and more like the latest in a series of Saw clones hoping to cash-in on the horror hype. Don't get me wrong, I'll watch Elisha Cuthbert do almost anything for ninety minutes but I have to admit I'm getting a little tired of all the torture in horror movies these days. Who knows, maybe Roland Joffe' knows something I don't know and Captivity will end up a masterpiece and become a classic of the horror genre. I hope it does, but I kinda doubt it.

You're not the only one, I am officially sick of these torture movies already. I liked the first Saw, a lot even, because it was a pretty original film at its time, but it was the success of Saw that spawned this never ending chain of torture movies. And just enough already! I might have seen this, just out of some sick curiosity, same reason I bothered to see Hostel 2, but now, after seeing that clip of this you just posted before, oh man thats soo nasty, I just lost all interest in it for good.

Sigh. Not sure why these movies are made. They're not scary, they're not compelling and they're not entertaining. What's the hook? Is it just to watch someone get tortured?
Trailer was fine. Elisha Cuthbert really needs to find a new agent though...

Elisha Chutbert's new film, He Was a Quiet Man, is excellent and she is very good in it. Good to see her in a quality US indie film.

Count me in as another who's disgusted at the torture porn films. Enough. There isn't even shock value anymore. What kind of sicko hates women so much that they enjoy watching them being mutilated and tortured? And what kind of woman has so little self respoect that she'd agree to star in one?

Well, from what I've read this movie is supposed to be more psychologically based. But who knows? I too am pretty tired of the old torture retread.

Well, I would think men who have have been hurt by women in the past through the reported hordes of women committing adultery these days. They would probably get the most joy out of these films, I would think.

marty, It's difficult to reply to someone who seems so angry at women that they enjoy watching them tortured and mutilated.
What about all the men that fool around on their ladies? Should women heal themselves after betrayal by getting off watching penis amputations?
I suspect that there are healthier ways of dealing with romantic disappointment.
