Katie Leung Says Don't Expect Her Back for 'Harry Potter 6'

Before Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter fans were getting anxious to see who would play Cho Chang in the wizardly series of films. Katie Leung nabbed the honor and jumped into a pretty huge first film. Of course, she's also back for the second, next month's Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix. She has to be, because Harry is finally getting some hot lip action. However, don't expect her to be seen through the rest of the series like other supporting cast members. Wait! Before you go damning Leung for turning her back on the Potter series, it's not because of disinterest. She was asked by the Telegraph whether she thinks she'll be in the next film. Her answer: "I don't think so. Cho's mentioned briefly in the books, but they try to cram so much into the films that I don't think there'll be room for her."Seeing that Leung has no other work on the horizon yet, I'd hope that they'd at least have her face pop up here or there. One of the best things about this series is that it hasn't been plagued with actors leaving. We've watched both the main and secondary kids grow up on-screen, which has helped the flow and reality of the films. But this does bring up an interesting question: will some characters fade away from the screen as the filmmakers struggle to fit more and more in? I can only imagine how much meat the final Deathly Hallows will have, and one of the easiest ways to make space is to expunge characters who aren't instrumental to the final showdown. But at the same time, you don't want to tick off fans by excluding their favorites. Would you be upset at the absence of Cho Chang, or any of the other wizard ensemble?

Why must the hotties girl in the Harry Potter series leave?
Katie Leung was one of the major reason I even bothered to see the last Potter movie in theaters. If she's not in 6th movie I'll most likely just wait for it to come to DVD.

Never really enjoyed her character, so it won't bother me not seeing her on the big screen.

It depends on how it was done, sometimes it is not the time that someone is onscreen but the impact that it creates. Katie Leung is not stating that she will not be in the 6th film but that it is a possibility, who knows she may do a cameo.

I hope you're not serious. Even if you're not, Katie Leung isn't filipino. She's Chinese.

I think that the last film of the series should be two discs like they did with the Lord of the Rings movie. This way they could put more into the final film. Cho could be included but she does not play as an important role in the Half Blood Prince as she does in the Order of the Phoenix. So it seems likely she will not be in the rest of the movies.
Secondly, I think that Voldemort will die and that Harry will likely be the one to kill him. He is the one that has defeated him in the whole series and his power had been the Love from his mother. Dark Lord has never known love and therefore continually underestimates Harry's power.

She's a nothing "actress" and plays a servicecable part in the overall story.
Nobody should be paying her any heed.

It is beyond me how some people claim to be true HP fans, and still have negative words to say about the series' characters. Jo has created a world never before witnessed or experienced, an astonishing realm of extraordinary magic, and every inch of it should be cherished and worshiped by us, the fans. In my opinion, Cho's character is wonderful, and I like her very much (Katie Leung too, absolutely), but that's not my point. Cho is a part of Harry Potter's world, as are all the other characters, and we should be real sorry not to be able to see all characters playing side by side to the very end of the movie series. Every single person has their own importance, and that's what makes Harry's world so great. Without everyone being present, it's just not the same. So, I'll say it again - Cho, we're all looking forward to seeing you kiss Harry (lucky you :-)), and hopefully we'll get to see you in the last two parts. Go, Cho!!! We love and support you!!!

Emi: I totally agree with you. No matter how little their part might be, each person playing a main character, supporting character or even a background player is a significant part of each Harry Potter movie that has been made. And the same goes with the books J.K. Rowling has successfully created and written for the whole world to enjoy. Whenever I read the books, and I have read each one of them several times, I associate those people who play the characters on screen to the characters in the books, so I would really be disappointed if someone was either replaced or eliminated, such as Katie Leung, Cho's character)from the movie version of the book. Can't wait for the movie (July 11th) and for the final book even though I know I'll be sad to say goodbye to all those wonderful characters who gave me such pleasure reading about them and their fantabulous enchanted world of magic and hocus-pocus.

Cho Chang is not the true love of Harry, so she doesn't need to returh. As for the actress, she can just move on with other movies, and she's currently filming a music video, acting as "The Girlfriend".
