Brandon Routh Wants In the Justice League Movie
Filed under: Action, RumorMonger, Fandom, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
The more time they go between Superman flicks, the easier it is for people to forget who Brandon Routh is ... or was. IESB recently stopped Routh for a little video interview, and the dude said he's "itching to get back into the suit." The Superman suit, that is. But here's my question: Why wouldn't he be itching to get back into the suit? I don't see anyone else knocking down his door, and all the guy really has going for him right now is the fact that he's the new Superman. Problem with that is, you need to have a Superman film out or in the pipeline in order to be enjoying some decent work. Look, I'm aware the guy is doing a few little indie films here and there, but, for example, it's nothing like the work Daniel Craig is getting in between Bond pictures. So, is Routh really the right guy to talk to about these things?
Naturally, the Justice League movie also came up, and -- guess what -- Routh said he'd be down for that as well. Really? There's a shocker. Of course, Routh knows nothing about the project except that a script has been turned in and Superman is rumored to be involved in some capacity. If he is needed, though, Routh said he'd love to work alongside Christian Bale's Batman. As far as that Man of Steel (aka Superman Returns 2) project goes, Routh said he's currently scheduled to begin working on it early next year. "The sooner, the better," he noted. Exactly. You have to figure at some point those unemployment checks are going to run out. Last thing we need is to show up to some Hollywood restaurant and realize -- holy crap -- Brandon Routh is our waiter!

Dude what is your problem is Routh? Why do you got to put him down like that? He was a good superman, so the movie was light on the action. big deal. Just wait till the next one.

Erik WTF is your problem.. Routh surpassed all expectations and was a great superman. The movie was weak but not his performance.I'd be happy to see him take on the role again. BTW all your post suck.. you should stop writing

He wants to do it because he knows he couldn't carry another Superman by himself if his life depended on it.

Whoa there Routh fanatics, at what point did I say he was a bad actor, or was bad in Superman Returns? I just stated a fact: He's not getting any solid work in between films with the exception of a small indie or two. That's a fact, my friends, not an opinion. And with that fact in mind, it's not surprising that the guy would be itching to play the role again. That's all I was saying -- where's all this hate coming from?

Maybe Brandon Routh should get arrested or something to keep his name and image in the media.

Love the Deathtrap joke. lol
FWIW, Routh has the screen presence of Kirk Cameron. Yeah, that kinda megawattage TV screen persona. He'll go far...maybe make a few Left Behind movies of his own.

ouch! read it twice and still sounds like your bashing the poor guy. i'ts almost a good thing he's not doing big movies. i'd hate to see a "huge" movie stars celebrity overshadow the character. i mean, you were making a statement, and thats all good. but man, your tone was harsh.

I find little blogs like this to be so ridiculous. You have a lot to say about Brandon Routh, but obviously know little about him. It's ONLY been a year since Returns came out. He spent half the year travelling the world promoting the movie, and the other half taking time off to be with his fiance, and in between that doing a couple of indie films. I really don't understand what people like you are expecting from him. Just because he starred in a role as Superman, you expect him to become the next Robert DeNiro OVERNIGHT? I don't believe even DeNiro became that successful right away. And had it ever occurred to you that he may be "itching to get back into the suit" because he actually loves being Superman and loves the character? An average movie viewer such as yourself would take that as a act of desperation, but true comic book fans know exactly what he is saying and appreciate hearing those words.

Ignore them. I thought it was a great article as it's true. For a guy who was in a such a huge film that got so much publicity, he hasn't generated anything resembling a career. But the real reason is that SR underperformed. Getting $200 million at the box office isn't much for a blockbuster these days and looks so small conpared to what films are getting just a year later. Also, Brandon may have looked the part of Superman, may have played Superman just fine, but he simply doesn't seem to have much of a personality. His interviews weren't that interesting and only the fanboys and teenybopper girls seemed to show interest. That doesn't generate much of a career. Maybe outside of Superman, he's just not that good of an actor and can't make it past the audition stage. He certainly doesn't have a great presence on film.

Erik Davis is just a simple blogger. Take him with a grain of salt. His "article" is attached to moviefone.com, and I would have thought that because he was somehow affiliated with the site that has Superman Returns listed as #9 in it's Entertainment Guide's "11 Best Superhero Movies Ever!"- http://movies.aol.com/movie-photo/best-superhero-movies -that he would have some sort of knowledge as to the content of his surroundings. How embarrassing. I had originally assumed that he was some sort of credible aspiring journalist, but it is now clear that he has no more credibility than a kid with a blog. Thank you Erik for shining such a bright light on your failures as a credible source of information. I trust that soon you may be the next waiter that I have.

Okay, are you serious tg? Like, when you wrote that, did you actually walk away convinced that it made sense? If so, can I have a little bit of whatever you're on?
Dude, nowhere in this post did I bash Superman Returns. Where are you people getting this stuff from -- it's cracking me up. And your whole "credible source" diatribe is even funnier. Do you even know what that means? What shouldn't people believe? That Brandon Routh said he'd be interested in a JLA flick? Dude, I linked to the friggin video in which he says he would -- how much more credible do you want this to be?
