Daniel Radcliffe Says He Hasn't Agreed To Star in 'Harry Potter 7'
Filed under: Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Casting, Warner Brothers, Scripts, Family Films, Harry Potter, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
NOTE: This article contains speculation by an actor as to how the Harry Potter saga will end. It does not contain spoilers for the Harry Potter series, because the actor in question doesn't know how the Harry Potter series will end and neither do I. Kapeesh? Very well. Proceed. If you want to. The final Harry Potter book will be in stores in about three weeks, and even Harry himself -- Daniel Radcliffe -- doesn't know what the wildly anticipated novel holds. That's not stopping him from making predictions, however. Radcliffe tells the Herald Sun "I think Harry will die. It's the only appropriate way of ending it. How else will J.K. Rowling be able to resist the deafening calls for her to continue (with the books) if Harry is still alive? And, on a selfish level, every actor wants to do a death scene . . . I'm going to milk it." Ah, but It should be noted that Mr. Radcliffe has not signed on for the seventh Potter movie yet. The boy wonder says, "It all depends on the script and who's going to direct it. It would be foolish to make it for the sake of it." Let me just say, for the record...give me a fuh-reaking break. Radcliffe gains access to a reported $40 million bucks when he turns eighteen later this month. $40 million bucks for waving a wand around, y'all! When I was eighteen, I drove a 1982 Chevy Celebrity and I had a fifty dollar savings bond from my grandmother to my name. It depends on the script, does it Radcliffe? Depends on the director? If it wasn't for the Harry Potter franchise, you'd be getting beat up in gym class right now! Girls wouldn't be screaming your name and fainting every time you make a public appearance, they'd be turning you down when you ask them to the Homecoming Dance. You think high school's fun, punk? Does anyone actually believe the kid would do six movies and then bail? You think Warner Brothers will be cool with that one? "We'll just slap some glasses on Freddie Prinze Jr., nobody will notice!" Come on, Radcliffe! Come the freak on!

I actually agree with him. It seems that the Potter films are already becoming a chore, so he's got a little bit of a point.
lol just calm down dude

40 mil for playing make believe while you're a kid is not a chore.
no matter how much of a hassle it may seem to be now, the kid's set for life as long as he makes sensible decisions with his money.

Let the bitterness flow down your body. Raise your fist up to the sky and curse the world that made your life the misery it was so that you had but a 82 Chevy Celebrity to drive around. Ignore the stories about starving people in Africa, it might interfere with your 'the world is not fair' rant. And you know, if there are money negotiations to be done why would you commit yourself and thereby get low balled on your price? Then you'd be writing about how foolish dude was to enthusiastically commit before seeing the money on the table or the script in the hand.

Actually Dan Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint have all signed on for both Half-Blood Prince and Deathly Hallows. Warner Brothers made an announcement in March confirming this in response to tabloid rumors that Emma Watson had quit. The tabloids made up completely false quotes from Watson and the story spread everywhere, so W.B. did damage control. She took longer to sign because she had to work out her school schedule.
This is obviously another inaccurate quote. I actually think it's an old quote because I remember Dan saying this, but like a year or a year and a half ago, not recently.

There you go. They're signed.

The press release you have linked to was released back in March. The Herald Sun article I linked to in my piece was published on Sunday and states: "Contrary to reports, Radcliffe said he was yet to agree to star in the final Harry Potter film."

The press release came directly from Warner Brothers and was sent not only to every Harry Potter website, but also the general press. It has direct quotes from the producers. I have read articles on the web that have taken quotes from audio that I have heard from the actors and changed the wording around. It's done all the time. All three have signed and they even talked about shooting two more Harry Potter films during a press conference last week.
Warner Brothers would not say that they signed and would not release a press release from everyone involved if it weren't true.

Mr. Walsh,
When I clicked on this article I expected some news about the films and Daniel Radcliffe. Not two quotes and an autobigraphy. Calm down. Have you ever heard of an actor getting so sucked into a roll that they're not able to get another. Why do you think that only Julia-Louis Dreyfus has had a somewhat succesful show since Seinfeld. Because people only want to see Micheal Richards (please ignore his comedy routine incident) only if he is Cosmo Kramer and sliding into Jerry's apartment and Jason Alexander only if he is a bald, short, loser, who wants to be an architect. So possibly Radcliffe doesn't or didn't want that to happen to him. Lastly, maybe acting isn't that easy. maybe it is a chore. It's not like he shows up for a couple weeks, reads some lines and is just handed a check. Acting is a job and requires work. I could be wrong, in fact I've never acted on a real stage. This is just my opinion.
Please tell me what you think.
J

Dear Readers,
My "outrage" was intended to be tongue-in-cheek. I assure you I am losing no sleep over Daniel Radcliffe's decision-making process. We're given these pieces of information to write about, and I find it's more entertaining to take a point of view on any given subject than to simply present the news verbatim. Just having a little fun with the story.
Apparently I should have given a little consideration to "starving people in Africa" before voicing my opinion on movies about teenage wizards.

I just wanted to add that Daniel Radcliffe is British and that, as far as I know, there are no Homecoming Dances in England. ;)

First, according to the press junket stuff, please tell me if I'm wrong, all three actors, Daniel, Emma & Rupert have signed up for the movie & if that is true (which I believe it is) there really is no need for this story to even be up.

What an ass! "I don't see the point of doing it just to do it". That's is the biggest bullshit ever! Maybe you should do it for the fans and for the studio that made you the most famous asshole "actor" ever!

Sorry, I couldn't resist. I think this should be enough proof. This is from July 8th, at the U.S. premiere, directly from Dan's mouth that he's "completely signed" for movie 7. It's also a video so it's a direct quote:

There you go. I realize that it's the original article's fault, but it should still be retracted.

Speaking of Harry Potter movies, is there a possibility of casting Ian Mckellen (Gandalf - of "Lord of the Rings") as Dumbledore for H.P. 6 & 7? Just a thought.

The person who wrote this is God.
I've been a Harry Potter fan since '99, and I agree, but if your quoting him from a slant, it's all the different, he seems like a whiny ass in these particular quotes, though any for of media twists things to their own views and such..
