'Spider-Man 4' Getting Closer to Reality
Filed under: Action, Drama, Sony, Newsstand, Comic/Superhero/Geek, Remakes and Sequels
The Spider-Man films have become one of the most popular and highest-grossing franchises in history, obviously. After three movies, though, some might believe it's time to hang up the spidey-suit and move on to other things. If you disagree and can't imagine life without more Spider-Man movies, you're in luck because according to a recent Hollywood Reporter article, it doesn't appear the franchise is going to go away any time soon. In fact, a meeting between producer Laura Ziskin, Sam Raimi and Sony's top peeps is currently scheduled to take place within the next two weeks. In the article, which not only discusses future Spider-Man movies, but other monster franchises such as the Harry Potter films and the X-Men series -- which according to the article will stop at X-Men 3 (no script exists for a fourth flick, and there are currently no plans to write one) but will spin-off with Wolverine and Magneto movies -- Spider-Man franchise producer Laura Ziskin reveals that she would like to get everyone back for another Spidey film but that "no one will sign on the dotted line until they see a script." However, don't be too concerned about that script thing causing delays or stopping production on more films because Ziskin also reveals in the article that "There will be more 'Spider-Man' movies. We just haven't answered what shape they will come in and (Sony) hasn't given us a release date."
With at least one, and potentially more, Spider-Man films to come, will we again see Tobey Maguire slinging webs as Peter Parker and Sam Raimi behind the camera calling the shots? On these questions, for the moment, Ziskin is less certain: "Spider-Man will continue; I can't tell you every person who will be involved." With the power of franchises pulling in the big bucks to help keep the studios afloat in these uncertain economic times, there's pretty much no way that a successful franchise like Spider-Man won't keep going and going -- as long as it still makes money for the studio. Until it stops raking in the bucks, you can probably expect to see Spider-Man 4, 5 and 6, at the very least. And even though I wasn't thrilled with Spider-Man 3, as a fan of the franchise and comic book movies in general, I say bring 'em on -- just try to do a little better next time.

I would love to be a fly on the wall of that creative meeting. Although, it's probably far more business than creative. I kinda feel bad for how much Sony needs the web-slinger.
Aside from "Spider-man", Sony's only other viable film franchise is "Resident Evil", a fact scarier and more gruesome than anything on display in any of the films themselves.
All critical bashings aside, (I sincerely, unironically, and unapologetically love "Spider-man 3".) it still turned out to be the biggest winner of the summer, so far. Easily outpacing and outclassing the other May blockbuster bonanzas. I completely agree with Peter Travers take on the film. That, while overstuffed and overlong, it's still tremendously entertaining and the only event movie of the season that actually feels as if crafted by human hands.
Bring back Sam, Tobey, and Bryce. And DEFINITELY bring back Franco, whose talent and charm were only just beginning to be justly mined in SM3 before being abruptly stunted.
However, please eliminate the Dunst Factor. Her weary, half-hearted performances now as MJ clearly denote her apathy towards the character and the universe.
Is a brazen recasting of MJ, or even a role-switch, with Bryce Dallas Howard too much to ask for? BDH is just plain amazing and perfect for Mary-Jane Watson. For chrissakes, she's even a natural redhead!

I think that the franchise will lose a lot of interest from fans if they drop any of the actors. I'll be disappointed if they don't bring Harry Osbourne, James Franco, back somehow as the Hobgoblin. This franchise will live and die on the actors.

The problem with Spider-Man 3 is that Sam Raimi wasn't calling all the shots. Venom and Gwen are two characters that should have been explored elsewhere instead of thrown into this film (as per requests by Ziskin and Arad).
And unfortunately, when Raimi did call the shots, we got Tobey Maguire dancing in a jazz club. It didn't help that during the final battle, we had to see glimpses of Raimi's kids yelling "WICKED COOL!" What a letdown.

Alright , here goes an idea
for Spider-Man 4 or 5 : why not a team up or cross over movie like thy do in the comic books
Why not have the Incredible Hulk go
to New York , trying to find a cure for him there
when he arrives he hears of Spider-Man and The
Fantastic Four , and Reed Richards a scientist who
could help cure him . But he sees Mary Jane and like
King Kong did , he kidnaps her , realizing that in
doing so , Spider-Man needs help from the Fantastic Four to rescue her .
Hope Sam Raimi and Stan Lee sees this
idea , you do you have my permission to use it ,Jessica and Kirsten in the same movie . wow .What a Thought . It could work . Spend the Money
