Three More 'Indiana Jones' Films Heading Our Way, Source Says
Filed under: Action, Paramount, RumorMonger, Fandom, Steven Spielberg, Remakes and Sequels
While folks frantically try to uncover the plot and title for Indiana Jones 4, IESB has arrived with some pretty big news ... if it's true. Up until now, we were pretty positive this would be the final installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, with Shia LaBeouf potentially coming back as Indy's son in a future spin-off installment. Well, according to a "very well respected Paramount studio source" LaBeouf has signed a four-picture deal to reprise his current role in three more Indy-related films. Not only that (and here's the big shocker), but IESB also claims that Harrison Ford signed a three-picture deal, meaning he'll show up (all old and whatnot) as Indiana Jones in two more flicks. Now I'd like to tell you to take this all with a grain of salt (which you should), but know that IESB says their source is "as solid as a rock."
The LaBeouf stuff I can believe, but I never in a million years expected Ford to sign on for more films after this one -- mainly because I wouldn't think Steven Spielberg would be directing, and also because the guy is getting a tad old. And do they really want to stretch this series out into seven films? The first three are such classics, and I have high hopes for the fourth. But three more?! They've got to be kidding. Apparently not. Of course there's always a chance Paramount will wait to see how Indiana Jones 4 does (as well as how much people like LaBeouf's character) before making the move on any additional installments. And there's also a chance Ford's contract only calls for cameo roles, instead of full-on stunt action. But since Ford has never been a "cameo actor," I can't see him agreeing to show up for five minutes to give his son a mission, then bail. Regardless, what do you think about three more Indiana Jones films? Would you be down for that much Indy, or do you want to wait to see the fourth flick before answering?

Man, that kid signed his soul away to the devil!
It could be interesting, I'll wait and see how he comes out of Henry Jones III. As for Harrision Ford coming back for them, if they do it right, it could be good (ala Henry Jones Sr and his quest for the Holy Grail and Jr has to come bail him out.)

I'd be overjoyed to see Ford in more films - he may be getting on, but who else looked this fit at 65? Still, the window is very small, and one thing no one has mentioned is that getting another script (let alone two) that Spielberg, Ford and especially Lucas will approve of could take forever. Maybe not 13 years like last time, but I highly doubt they can quickly churn out these movies like Harry Potters.
Perhaps the next two films would be filmed at the same time?

Harrison Ford actually did a cameo as Indy in the "Young Indiana Jones" series.

Hollywood is all about Sequels these days so this doesn't really surprise me at all.

Bring it on, especially if Spielberg directs and limits the CG effects. This would be a nice change of pace from the heavy CG stuff we get every weekend these days.

I'm up for them if they focus on LaBoeuf's character (assuming that I like his character, of course). I love Harrison Ford and everything, but I can't see three more Ford-centric Indy movies being good. Giving Ford a role like Connery's in Last Crusade, though, could work well.

Does it matter? I mean, it took them how many years to settle on a script for number 4? By the time they finish 5, let alone 6 or 7, Ford will be retired, and Shia will be pushing 40...

Hey, if they can pull them off and they're any good, more power to them. I don't know about a spinoff about his kid though. Nothing personal there Shia, but one flick with Indy's kid is enough. I'd hate to see the series become "Indiana Jones and Son and the etc. etc etc." I would however love to see how Indy lost his eye though...

Indiana Jones is the best Action character that has ever graced moving film. There is not even a close second in that regard, seriously who even comes close?
Indy 4 will be awesome. and more Indy can only be a good thing.

I love Indiana Jones and can't wait to see 4. But I don't want a spinoff series. Nothing against Shia, but this is Harrison Ford's movies. He IS Indiana Jones. I don't want to see his sons adventures. I want to see Indiana Jones adventures.

More movies with Shia wouldn't be bad at all...basically a Young Indiana Jones (the III?) in the vein of the original trilogy. Have less CGI and good stories around the world...I'm game. A Ford cameo wouldn't be bad either. Indy 4 will be his first big hit in years. The man's gotta eat!
