'Avatar' Video Game in Development

The feature is about an ex-Marine who is in the middle of hostilities on an alien planet. He's an "Avatar," which is a human mind in an alien body, so he's torn between two worlds and fights for his own survival, as well as that of the indigenous people. Cameron says: "For the movie Avatar, we are creating a world rich in character, detail, conflict and cultural depth. It has the raw material for a game that the more demanding gamers of today will want to get their hands on -- one that is rich in visuals and ideas, and challenging in play. I told the Ubisoft team I wanted them to be free to do their very best work, and not think of this as a movie-based game. They responded with a fully-realized presentation which captured the soul of the world and the characters, while promising to be a knockout game in its own terms. Their passion inspired my confidence that they are going to do something transcendental."
Mystical indeed. I usually don't have much faith in movie-based video games being a truly WOW-worthy experience (and not in the World of Warcraft sort of way), but I have a feeling that this could be one sweet gaming adventure.

I can't stand video games based off movies, but I have total faith in Ubisoft and this movie sounds like it could be a good game. Sounds like a good movie too.

Isn't there already a crappy anime show named Avatar, with its own videogame to boot?
