Johnny Depp Developing Vampire Pic 'Dark Shadows'

It seems only natural that Johnny Depp would eventually want to play a vampire -- it wouldn't be the most eccentric in the long line of eccentric roles under his belt. And the actor, who just recently wrapped production on two big movies-- Sweeney Todd and Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End -- may be just about ready to bite into that kind of part. Depp's production company Infinitum-Nihil and GK Films have just obtained the rights to and are currently developing a script for the film rendition of Dark Shadows. You may remember Dark Shadows as a 60s show that dealt with all things supernatural, including vampires, ghouls, zombies and more. One character, Barnabas Collins, sparked particular interest with Depp as a child -- he claims to have imagined playing the role on the big screen, so that's probably what we're in store for.Dark Shadows was a success in the 60s and 70s and continues to have a cult following; according to Variety there have been many attempted adaptations of the series but none as serious as what Depp and his team are up to. And if you are really aching to be a part of the action then you can join the yearly convention -- that should take place this August. WONDERFUL!!!!!I haven't been this excited in long time. Johnny Depp as Barnabas in Dark Shadows! I am a big fan of Dark shadows and never missed an episode( and this was before vcr's etc..) have been waiting for a redemtion and Johnny will be fantastic!! only the best cast can do dark shadows sucssesfully and you are off to a great start. I can't wait to see it!!!!!

I can't wait to see this!! Johnny Depp as Barnabas. I love dark shadows, and Johnny should be great! But PLEASE!! NOT Tim Burton. His style doesn't belong with Dark Shadows, and I'm afraid he would ruin it. And I hope they don't turn it in to a horror slasher film, because that is not what Dark Shadows is, And I hope they keep enough Dan Curtis in it. But I would love to see Leonardo DiCaprio as Quentin Collins. And another suggestion for Anglique is Charlize Theron. I could go on and on. I'd love to have something to do with this project. I would run home from school every day to make sure I didn't miss a minute. Love ya Johnny! The antisipation is killing me. Dark Shadows fans are waiting and expecting your best film yet!!

in this day, i think depp is the ONLY one who could play barnabas collins. he has a certain air about him. he has that gentleman quality, combined with that essence of evil quality, that made jonathan frid so successful. and please, don't ANYONE suggest angelia jolie for angelique!! i imagine some blonde hair beauty, and charlize theron fits that mold. i myself like hugh jackman for quentin. i'm a bit stumped on who else to cast (david collins, elizabeth collins stoddard, roger, vicki, dr. hoffman, carolyn, maggie, etc) but how about anthony hopkins for professor stokes?
