Are the Coreys In On the Joke?
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Newsstand, Home Entertainment
It seems like another lifetime ago when Corey Feldman was the bad boy and Corey Haim was the good-boy darling. Personally, I was quite a fan of The Haim and how he said "Hello, honey" in Dream a Little Dream, and thought he was the star to the dark Mr. Feldman. Their successes succumbed to battles with drugs, and now Feldman is the clean and stable Corey trying to help his old friend regain the spotlight. The New York Times spent some time with the actors, whose faux reality show premiered last night, and as Feldman sees it: "We're producing. We're in on the joke." But are they? Earlier this month, Erik Davis posted about a clip from the show where Feldman tells Haim that he was approached for The Lost Boys sequel, but they didn't want Lucas too. Haim cried, and the pair shared a particularly creepy, sad moment. I would hazard a guess that Haim is trying to be in on the joke in order to help his career, but not completely feeling it -- sort of a "Hey, I'm cool and can make fun of myself! Hire me!" In the Times piece, Mickey Rapkin describes a point in their dinner where a young woman approaches their table for a picture of Feldman. When she was walking away, Feldman called after her: "Corey Haim is right there. Take his picture." Rapkin then describes: "The fan turned to Mr. Haim. 'Do you want me to take your picture?' she asked reluctantly. He was already leaning back, posing."
The scene sounds like something that would've been perfect for the show -- if they follow the same theme as the clip -- Feldman trying to help his struggling and sad friend. The pair might be producing the show, but I wonder if this will just make people pity and joke about Haim all the more, instead of helping the actor move past his struggles. At least Haim didn't bite on another pitch, where a producer wanted him to "knock on the doors of former co-stars to see if they would let him in." Ouch. If any of you have seen The Two Coreys, what do you think?

Of course they're in on the joke! Reality TV isn't so real anymore. Ya gotta love the premise: The adult-child Haim, who lives in Toronto, moves in with the matured Feldman's in LA.
But *sshhh! don't tell...* the reality is: The show was shot in Vancouver for tax breaks, not at the Feldman's residence in LA (per the NY Times). And it's safe to assume most of the goings-on are guided by the suits running the show.
So, should we be offended? Should we feel we've been tricked? Hell no! It's all done in good fun. And it was certainly good fun to see the Corey's together again!
But I gotta say: People are giving Haim nothing but crap for his past indiscretions with drugs and weight gain. Give him a break! He deserves kudos for his years of struggling to make it to sobriety. It's great to see him again. It's great to see him alive, clean and sober. I wish him all the best on his quest for a fresh new start on life.
Who knows, maybe one of these days we'll see him on the silver screen once again. Ain't nothin' wrong with whoring yourself on reality TV for a little exposure. However, I pray the day never comes when the world is faced with "Corey Haim is 45 and Still Single" on VH1.
GO, COREY HAIM! WE LOVE YA!

I dont know if they are just joking around but c Haim does seem a little pitiful. But if this is his life then how can you change the truth. I am happy to see CFeldman married to a wonderful girl and they have a good life together. I also am glad to see C Haim on the right track because he does deserve a second chance! I will definetly go see Lost boys 2. by the way wasnt the actress on Still standing one of the Vampires too? was she offered a role in the sequal?
Good luck Feldman/Haim

I love the show and I hope it will catapult Corey Haim back in the spot light. We all fall short of perfect but that's ok especially when you over come your short comings and get back on track like Mr. Haim. I wish him all the best.
They say that Corey Feldman is a working actor.....um can someone enlighten me because I haven't seen him in anything!!!! BTW, I wish they had left Corey Feldman's wife off the show because she is very annoying.....all she does is complain and act as if she is someone! Hello the only reason she is on t.v. is because she's married to Feldman. She's a real bitch and I think he can do way better, I actually hate women like her. That would be self centered, valley girlish, whiney...I have loved Feldman since I was a child but after seeing him deal with her I look at him differently because he could have gotten a better, prettier, down to earth lady.
