Is Katie Holmes Secretly Auditioning for 'Wonder Woman?'
Filed under: Action, Casting, RumorMonger, Fandom, Tom Cruise, Comic/Superhero/Geek
I bet this is a project you didn't expect to hear anything about, what with Joss Whedon bailing, leaving everyone confused as to how they should properly tackle the sexy superhero. Well leave it up to some random source to kick-start those Wonder Women rumors once again -- this time it's Star Pulse, which claim that none other than Katie Holmes recently flew into Los Angeles for a secret meeting regarding a starring role in the big-screen WW flick. And she flew in -- get this -- without Tom Cruise! Yup, according to Star Pulse's top secret source (who may or may not be a clever writer looking to bring some attention to the website), Katie wanted to take on these meetings herself, without Tom. And she's looking for a project that will help "put her back in the public eye." Sweetheart, you're married to Tom Cruise -- trust me, the "public eye" ain't going nowhere.
The article really makes it seem as if it was a big deal for Holmes to go at this alone, without help from her superhero husband. As we all know, rumors have suggested that Tom wants to be in complete control of his wife's career, telling her which roles he wants her to take and which roles he wants her to decline. In fact, when Holmes dropped out of The Dark Knight, folks immediately speculated that Tom played a major factor in that decision. But here's what I don't get -- if she wants a role in a superhero movie to put her back in the public eye, why not sign on to do The Dark Knight, a superhero movie? And what, was Batman Begins not good enough for her? Personally, I'd rather see Holmes doing smaller stuff. I loved her in Pieces of April, and was hoping she would go on to do similar character-driven projects. And then she married Tom. And then she squeezed out a kid. And now she's .... reportedly discussing a starring role in the Wonder Woman movie? I don't get it. But I guess that's Hollywood for ya!

Never mind the relationship with you-know-who.
I said this when someone at IMDb suggested Sarah Chalke as the Black Cat in a future "Spider-Man" movie, and it bears repeating:
I watched the cartoon. I read the comic. There is no way, in this or any universe, that this casting will ever come to pass.

Fr whatever reason it happened, I'm absolutely thrilled she's not in the next Batman movie. I wish she hadn't been in Batman Begins. She was the only weak element to me.

No, No, No not katie holmes that would be a huge blunder cause she is to old, to skinny, and to nuts to play this part.
The 2 front runners to me would be first Nadia Bjorlin hasn't hit it big yet since her time on days of our lives but she has the build and the look (boy does she have the look can you say Lynda Carter).
OR second Megan Fox fresh from transformers has the spotlight square on her and if she buffs up a little she'd be a front runner.

I like Katie in BB and I think she left TDK because Rachel's part is minimal. I really think this is just rumors milking the whole controlling Tom Cruise image as always. I think Katie will rock as Wonder Woman but female heroines dont bode so well.
Catwoman? Aeon Flux? Ultraviolet? Tomb Raider? Electra? even damsels in distress in Superman,Spidey,Batman projects feel like afterthoughts in a male dominated world.

Im in love with Katie in Pieces of April too especially The Gift. She's a great actress and while she looks like a conservative good girl she has a perfect body. I googled her topless on the Gift and the Beckham party a pic of her dancing and all pics were not on Tom but on his hot wife's arms and peekaboo breasts. No wonder Tom worries about Katie and Christian Bale and other young hot guys working together. Dont blame his worries.

Would you pick a film where you are top billing or a role just victimized by the Joker?
This story is not legit and Katie Holmes or any actress will carry this heavy burden doing this movie.
Any actress I love I will advise not to do Wonder Woman or any other buttkicking superfemale flicks.

I read People magazine the one where Katie was their Cover girl with Suri reports that Katie has a musical movie coming up and the people behind it are TPTB of Hairspray. They said its a different side of Katie Holmes and she will surprise audiences of her singing and dancing talents.
In splashnews video Katie arrived in LAX weeks ago and this girl cant get away from the insanity of the public and photogs. They wont disclose her other project but she was seen in CAA,Warner in Burbank and Castway studios in L.A. These gossip is all dirt when how can Tom be left out in the cold when its his own pilots, bodyguards and drivers escorting his wife to all her business meetings.
My friends and I are also expressing our distaste that Batman is recast with Maggie Gyllenhaal. Something about Maggie rubs us off. Katie has this classy All American girl vibe kinda like Audrey Hepburn because she does not flaunt her sexiness. Now Batman's girl(Maggie) is like Rosie O'Donnell. Ickypatooey.

I was also hoping she would go on to do similar character-driven projects and she is in Mad Money which will come out next year. I also wanted her to do the Batman sequel; because she would have been able to pick up her career where she left off BC (Before Cruise).
WW would only be an interesting role for her if Tom played Steve Trevor. And, if she played the role Tom's studio would take the project over and the film would actually get made.
Of course she really doesn't fit the role of WW who was both one og the world's most beautiful women and the world's greatest woman athlete. WW also had the face and body of an angel and the heart of a lion; which I don't think Katie could put across.
Katie cetainly makes it in the tall beauty department; but she certainly isn't the athletice type or the proper bearing for the role. If I was choosing someone for the role of WW I would pick Maria Sharapova if she can act and Jessica Biel if Maria can't act.

Wonder Woman is lame. If I were the studio I wont greenlight WW along with Supergirl or even a Justice league movie.
I thought she's playing this young NY rookie cop with Robert DeNiro? this TC gossip are so twisted but I cant wait what Katie will do next. Katie is my kind of girl for Batman too. I didnt have a problem with her acting and she is Rachel Dawes to me. I dont need convincing that Batman is in love with her.
Some say recast makes no difference but I tell you it really does in a bad way.
They got Maggie so all eyes are on Batman because if Katie did TDK everyone else will fade into the background because the people and press especially the paparazzis go batty for Katie and she makes news eeverywhere she goes and anything she does. Most of all Katie is hotter than ever and hot nips too.

Katie is actually very athletic she is a runner and a baller. Her dad in the first place wanted her to be an Olympian but Katie dreamed of Hollywood. All her family are athletic. Carter said Katie has the perfect age, personality and beauty to be Wonder Woman. She said she was the same age when she did Wonder Woman but this is one vehicle my wife and I are not too enthusiastic about. Female superheroes have a bad rep. and poor track records of success.
But Katie can pull it off if she's the one. Garner in Alias proved me wrong when I remembered her from Felicity and some Fox romantic show but she won me over as Agent Sydney Bristow on Alias thanks to my wife.

Katie comes from a very athletic family. However, Katie always said she was the non-atlete in the family. Katie's father wanted her to pay basketball in high school; but, she wanted to take acting classes which was OK with her dad.
She is the right age, and does has the beauty and personality. She could probably pull it off; but, I think that someone taller and more athletic would do a better job.
As for Carter, I saw in the series in the 1970's and she was a knockout. I saw her recently in Sky High and she is still a knockout. I would like to see her as WW's mother in the film if they ever make it.

Whoever comes up with Wonder Woman or anymore of this super heroine movies needs to be arrested. I love Katie but Im all against her doing this movie. I also miss her doing those small budget types and its ok if she does commercial ones too but just forget about WW. But where is Katie when we needed her for Batman? Its a written rule that Batman's women arent just great actresses but uberHOT. Maggie is ashes compared to Katie.

Linda Carter set the bench mark for Wonder Woman and there is no way I can see any other actress EVER measuring up to Ms. Carter's performance as Wonder Woman. Hollywood, hang it up. There are hundreds of wonderful new books out there just waiting to be made into movies, why re-hash the same old stuff?

I'd rather see Danny Devito play Wonder Woman than see Katie Holmes in the role. Give it to Lucy Lawless... She's perfect for the role and looks outstanding in medieval outfits...

Ok, look - Katie didn't bow out of The Dark Knight, star Christian Bale wanted her out of his movie (due to all of her bad Cruise-esque press), and replaced with his good friend Maggie Gyllenhaal - the brother of Jake (both of whom would probably never have gotten any acting jobs if it weren't for their mom -who's a casting director).
Meanwhile, Holmes is an intersting choice for Wonder Woman. She certainly has the near-exact Lynda Carter smile-down, but the bod? That's a way different story.
Also, too, these TV-to-movie movies have to follow a certain path if they want to succeed; and the number one thing that needs to be done with they are begun is to cast UNKNOWNS in the lead.
In other words, Warner Bros. needs to cast an unknown as Wonder Woman - really because Anglina Jolie - the whole true female star who was PERFECT the role of Diana Prince/Wonder Woman - is now plain just too old to play the part.

Katie Holmes as Wonder Woman??? Yeah - and Winona Ryder as Xena. If anything, Holmes should be cast in a sequel to "The Stepford Wives", as a submissive robot wife; she'd be perfect for it. Ooh, hey! And Tom Cruise could play her arrogant, Neanderthalesque, religious zealot, control-freak husband! It would be GREAT!
