Owen Wilson Hospitalized
We try not to dabble (too much) in gossip here at Cinematical, which is why we're a little late on this unpleasant news. (Basically I wanted to wait for confirmation from a strong source before quoting the tabloids on something like this.) But here's what seems to be the news:Actor / screenwriter Owen Wilson was rushed to a Santa Monica hospital yesterday after what definitely looks like a suicide attempt. Reports from various tabloids and websites indicate that his left wrist was cut and also that he'd overdosed on pills, but was discovered by a family member. Some reports indicate that while things looked grim at the beginning, Wilson is now in stable condition.
Source links for updates: Fox News, TMZ.com, Variety and (with the "exclusives") the always-classy Star Magazine / National Enquirer
Right about here is where I'd make a well-intentioned joke, but it really doesn't seem appropriate. Everyone here at Cinematical hopes that Wilson makes a very swift recovery and defeats whatever personal problems he's dealing with.

Man that sucks, i hope he gets well and sorts his 'ead out, hes a likable guy and its hard to think what on earth would drive a talented guy with lots money in the bank to do something like this, either it was genuine attempt from the sounds of it or a rather risky cry for help, but again i can never understand the pressures of why people with loads of money do these things, i mean come on us normal people have lots more problems to face and if i had his money and was depressed id just go rent myself a tropical island for a few months and fish to sort myself out...while being served beer by hot islanders of course

umm...you mentioned money 3 times in your post...lots of dosh does NOT guarantee that your head is automatically sorted...it actually creates the opposite effect. you need an especially good and healthy sense of self when you're surrounded by that much fame/adoration/disposable income. Or else you can be a complete wanker and think that's the reason why you are so loved...in which case you're probably correct.

It is apparent these days that money doesn't keep people happy. You think it would (like our friend bongo123), but it doesn't.
Look at Mel Gibson, Britney Spears, Lindsay Lohan, now Owen Wilson and even Robin Williams admitted he had a drinking issue because of emotional problems! Money just seems to make things more crazy.
If you are a star- you have TONS of cameras in your face all day every day, you have stories made up about you that guaranteed family will be calling and asking on a daily basis to make sure it isn't true! No matter where you go- there the cameras, stalkers and stories will be.
I hope Owen makes a speedy recovery as he is a good guy and his work is always top-quality. For whatever reason he did such a thing (IF he did it), I hope he gets figured out because he does not deserve to have things go so badly for him and he certainly doesn't deserve to have things end like that for him. Suicide is just an aweful thing so I hope he gets those issues resolved.
Even if he didn't attempt suicide, I hope he gets better soon.
To those that think money can make people happy- here is your shock to reality if you haven't caught on to it from other actors/actresses & singers yet! :s

Clinical depression can be caused by a chemical imbalance and no amount of will power and advice from from others to "suck it up and straighten out" will get you out of it. Only professional psychological treatment, sometimes combined with anti-depression drugs can help.
Alcohol and other recreational drugs are the worst things that a a victim of clinical depression can take.

This is very sad news. Talk about coming out of left field. His whole family (brothers) who also act and direct seemed as though they came from a realy good up bringing (solid). I guess being the oldest is realy wearing on him. I guess Kate Hudson figured it out and left for her son's sake. Here's to a speedy recovery and hoping he recieves the "emotional support he needs".

Jackie. Owen is not the oldest. His brother Andrew is, by several years. He is the middle child.

OWEN WILSON ADMITS HE ONLY STARTED SMOKING POT RECENTLY
http://www.blender.com/guide/articles.aspx?ID=2008&src=tst73
You should read this. It's an interview Owen did with Blender where he talks about only recently thinking drugs were OK.
It's such a shame...Hope he's OK and realizes what's truly important.

I didn't mean people with money are always happy, thats obvious, i just meant that if i was depressed and work was getting me down and cameras and magazines were doing my head in, id just piss of to some private resort somewhere to relax, chill out and get my head sorted. Seems real easy in my book.
Now us normal people who have jobs we need to keep at, bills we need to pay and lives we need to keep going cant just take 6mths off, we have to deal with our problems along with everything else in our lives, celebs or rich people can just take the time off and sort themselves out without the day to day distractions, hence why i never feel any pity for those numpties that end up in rehab with their lives falling apart, owen on the other hand seems like a good guy and his shit seems to be all kinds of bad at the moment, so i don't think a tropical island would sort that out.
But come-on how in the hell can buying a brand new lambo not cheer you up!

My heart goes out to Owen. I've read the other blogs and think it is ignorant to blame someone who is obviously in a dark place in his life.
My father committed suicide when I was ten and my mother was in a hospital the same weekend after overdosing on scotch and downers - she was trying to kill herself (her pain) too.
My heart goes out to you, Owen. Thank God you are in a place where you are receptive to help. Aside from the fame, you are a human being, a brother and someone who needs help.
I hope you find your way. It would be a tragedy for you to leave this planet by your own hand.

Stephanie,
You sound like an ignorant, bitter woman. So sad for your daughter. Owen owes nothing to your daughter - he owes himself - To make a threat like you did - shame on you - you owe your daughter and yourself an apology. Do you know Owen Wilson personally, or are you the type of person who gets all of their information from the media?

I feel very bad about this. He makes the world laugh while he is sad. Wish I could just hug him tight. He is a beautiful person and I truly enjoy watching him work. I pray he gets well and back on his feet. I understand the hopelessness felt as my son tried twice to commit suicide only to be thriving today in direction with a new wife. One more day can make all the difference in the world. God Bless Own and hugs of love all the same.

Oh Here we go again, What is up with these celebs. All of them on drugs and drinking all the time I just dont get it. If they have the money and power like everyone says they do why are they doing this to themselves. I think Now that Owen has gone this low to check himself into rehab and get some help and stay out of the public eye. It is time for these sick people to just give it up and do something good for themselves like give up acting give up the money and just be some working 9 to 5 workers, They just don't know how big of fools they actually make themselves out to be... We all at some point in our lives wanted to be a movie star hahaha If I ever had to make the money they did and spend it on crack and booze I think and do stupid Shit like these dumb celebs. I think i'll just stick to my 60.000 a year Welding career.. In all honesty I do wish Owen well But I still think he should grow the Fu*k up and get on with it lol
Not A Fan Of Killing Yourself.
Nicole.

You are the same age as my son. Please do not take
this lightly. If you are depressed, listen to your Drs and family. Let the rest of the world take care oof itself. Your family needs you. FOCUS ON THE LOVE OF YOUR FAMILY, IT IS ALL THAT IS REAL.
