Making Sex Scene History -- R-Rated 'Shoot 'Em Clip' Hits Net
Filed under: Action, New Line, Fandom, Home Entertainment, Movie Marketing, Trailers and Clips
In about an hour, I'll be writing another post regarding a new Moviefone gallery featuring the 25 Best Sex Scenes of All Time. One movie that will not be on that list (mainly because it hasn't come out yet) is Shoot 'Em Up, which arrives in theaters this Friday. Now before I go on, I must warn you that the clip we'll be linking to features both nudity and violence -- so those of you at work or around children might want to wait until the coast is clear. That said, New Line never even needed to market this film at all. All they could've done was show people this clip -- make it their trailer -- and folks would've flocked in masses. For the women, you have Clive Owen. For the men, you have Monica Bellucci. And for the people who couldn't care less about the sex, you have tons and tons of gun play. Need I say more?
The folks over at IESB are currently housing this clip, although no one seems to know where it came from. They claim it sort of landed in their laps, and so they put it up. Was it leaked on purpose? Was it not supposed to be leaked at all? We don't know. But what we do know is that the clip itself is flippin' fantastic -- and if I could simultaneously be typing this post and be on line waiting to buy tickets for this flick, you bet your ass I'd be in both places at the same time. (Actually, when you think about it, technically I could buy tickets online while I write this post. Thus, it is possible. So there ya go.) Parts of this clip were briefly shown in that last R-rated clip, but there's nothing like the whole scene to get you in the mood, so to speak. Here's a brief description to whet your appetite: While Clive and Monica get down to some between-the-sheets business, guys in ski masks burst into the room, bullets go flying, a baby begins crying and, well, the sex couldn't get any better. And Clive's final line -- classic! Check out the clip and let us know what you think -- Shoot 'Em Up hits theaters this weekend.

That was hilariously awful. Poor Clive Owen. Anyone who thinks this movie is tongue and cheek needs to watch the directors' other movies and interviews with him. He is crazy untalented and borderline retarded. This movie is bad in a completely unintentional way. Although I see why people would think it's not, it's hard to not think it's dumb on purpose. It's trying to be "cool" action movie. I've seen the whole movie, the action is poorly staged crap nothing like the animation. It's a fun train wreck if you like disasters though.

Thanks a lot , the girl in the tv series to which you borrowed your nickname was hopefully much more witty and interesting to listen in her voice-overs than your snobbish ranting . If you ask me who seems the more complexed and retarded between you and the director of this movie ... Well you guessed who I am going to choose . But thanks a lot in any case to make some of the retarded teens which posts on IMDB forums look like Roger Erbert while Iam reading your prose . You must be glad to be the Joan Rivers of the movie critics I suppose .

Steph, your post did to the English language what Shoot Em Up did to my brain. Congrats.

Movie snob anyone?
Sex and violence rolled into one, with intentional comic book "cool".
If you can't dig that, you my man have lost your testicles in a vat of "War of warcraft" sessions. Get a life Veron.
:)
I for one thought the clip looked great..a movie you can turn your brain off to, and enjoy a visually stimulating thrill ride...You want Ben-Hur, go rent it, but don't go to a film called "Shoot em' up" and expect that. Was there a "cheese" factor. Yes. But whats wrong with a little cheese? People expect every single film made to be spectacular in every facet, at the expense of the original vision...sometimes..the writer, wrote the character to say stupid lines..I've had plenty of friends, who are no longer my friends because they said stupid things all the time, they are out there. Get off your high horses and enjoy the damned movie for what it is.

Listen, John. As a women you know that you can love the movie all you want before you see it but that doesn't mean it's good. You can also kid yourself that the cheese is intentional, having unfunny one liners, etc. Giamatti has it the worst in the movie, everyone of his lines bombs hard. Watch the director's other movies first. It's like watching sub-poor man's Kevin Smith dialog directed by a third grader. He's terrible. I'm not a film snob either, my favorite movie is Disorderlies.

Tastes are what they are..Again, all you've said is "I don't like the directors style" but this is an art form, and there are no lines between what is good and what isn't. It's all about perception. If you think your version of what is good, is any better than anyones else's, then you ARE a film snob.
I wont claim to be any kind of expert of this directors work. But I know this particular clip reminds me a lot of Robert Rodriguez's work and Frank Miller..both of which received the exact same criticisms. And in both cases, I argued this is a distinct style, which isn't possible, without comic book dialog. You may not like this style, don't go watch the movie. But the rest of us seem to "get it", based on what I read, you are in the minority in your opinion. This clip has almost no dialog in it, and you can tell it's meant to look the way it looks..Accidental bad is Transformers.

At least we can agree Transformers was bad. Sin City is actually one of my favorite movies and comparing Shoot Em Up to it is really not fair. Davis rips off everyone and everything, and he does it poorly in my opinion.

Bitchy possible IMDB users aside, I thought this movie was great. I don't think it was an unintentional cheese. I saw this as a parody on just about every other action movie with sex and guns. If you are one to take yourself seriously, don't go see a movie like this.

I second post number 10, I would also pay to watch Clive Owen eat a sandwich. Or in this case a carrot. I'm pretty sure this movie was supposed to be a spoof on gun-happy action movies, how else do you explain the strong gun control message that dominates the second half of the movie.
Someone explain to me how that sex scene where he kills like 12 people manages to be both funny and hot. Oh right, because it's Clive Owen.

VeronicaOfMars, how has getting the sand out of your vagina been going? I'm sure you think you know what you're talking about when it comes to movies but I seriously think you should just stick to cooking dinner for your man...if you have one.
Anyways, Transformers was a great movie. Awesome CGI and a pretty good plot. Not the greatest movie ever but it has made a spot to my top 20 favorite movies of all time.
As for Shoot 'Em Up, I honestly think that it was a good movie. Sure the dialogue was tacky and the plot lacked severely, but come on, what did you honestly expect from a movie called "Shoot 'Em Up"?
The movie was supposed to be like that. It was supposed to be tacky, stupid and funny at the same time. It's just something to relax to after a hard day's work. I'm sorry the movie didn't consist of the main character being a woman working for some shitty magazine company and then falling in love with some douchebag.
All I'm saying is know what you are talking about before you open up those flaps of skin that spew shit all over the place. Alright?
