The Rock Wants You to Choose His Role in 'Shazam!'

We all know casting isn't as easy as looking at a contender and saying yay or nay. Sometimes actors get moved around to different parts -- sometimes making them stars, and sometimes making them sidekicks. But how often is a big name up for two lead roles in one movie -- and wants the fans to decide? The Rock, otherwise known as Dwayne Johnson, told MTV News that he is looking into two polar-opposite parts in the upcoming superhero movie, Shazam! -- both hero Captain Marvel and villain Black Adam. He's not too keen on picking, so: "It's up to the fans."First up: Captain Marvel. The DC Comics superhero wears a shiny red bodysuit, gold accessories, and a pretty fancy cape. He's the alter ego of Billy Batson, a young kid who works as a radio news reporter, but is chosen by the wizard Shazam to be a hero. When he says the wizard's name, he's struck by a magical lightning bolt that gives him tons of powers, muscles, and makes him The World's Mightiest Mortal.
The other choice: Black Adam. This is the black nemesis to Captain Marvel, wearing a similar, all-black superhero ensemble. He's the hero's most powerful foe -- having had a similar run-in with Shazam, but using it for corrupt means. Having been a hero, a villain, and later a struggling antihero, Black Adam has been all over the map.
Looking at the two comic heroes on Wikipedia, The Rock looks the part for both of them -- if they can find a mini-Rock to play the non-powered Batson. So, who do you pick?

I'd like to see him play Captain Marvel. I'd really like to see how he handles playing a young kid in a superhero's body.

I'd like to see him as Black Adam. Part of Captain Marvel's appeal as a superhero is how sickeningly whitebread he is. The Rock's acting abilities aside, he exudes more of that tough badass that I'm looking for in my Teth-Adam

This may be a silly idea, but why not play both?

I too would like to see Dwayne pull off Black Adam. He needs a chance to show a little more of his acting.
With that in mind, who the hell do you cast for Captain Marvel then? Physical presence needs to be somewhat equal to Adam.

Dwayne is easily Black Adam. I think Patrick Warburton should play the Big Red Cheese himself, though. He's got the body type, look, and timing to play Marvel.

The Rock NEEDS to play Black Adam! He was an awesome bad guy in Doom. I don't want to see him going the Vin Diesel way, no offense I liked the Pacifier, but come on The Riddick movies were much better. And Captain Marvel should be played by Stone Cold Steve Austin. I know he's not a young kid, but he is well likable. Anyone see The Condemned?? He was a killer in that movie and everyone still loved him. But that's probably because he was the only character that was highly developed. That's just my opinion though.

Hasn't anyone seen the websites, petitions, interviews, fans comments out there on the Captain Marvel subject that has been circulating for years?? Brandon Molale! The man is Captain Marvel himself! My wife and kids and I were at ComicCon in San Diego in July and saw Brandon there - he looks just like the Big Red Cheese! If the fans are going to decide on anything - it's Molale as Marvel and Rock as Adam - what a combination that would be. Those two would be a bix office dream!

Yeh Rock needs to be Black Adam and I think the role of Captain MArvel should go to Ben Affleck, mArk Wahlberg or Lucas Black(the guy from Fast and Furious 3). I think Lucas would do really good in the role and he could be the kid in a man's body as could Affleck.

I don't know about all of you - but I like Steve's comment about Molale. I want Hollywood to stop ruining my childhood and taking away the iconic image of the Superheros I am used to seeing. Trying to take big name actors and make them the superhero "just because." I like how they used a "lesser known" like Brandon Routh for Superman - he looks just like Superman -instead of taking a big name and trying to make it fit. Why not keep our superheros looking the way they are supposed to look?

I just went and had a look who this Brandon Morales guy is and I'm concinced. He should be Captain Marvel and the Rock was born to play Black Adam. (which from a character actors point of view is infinately the better choice)They both look like the characters and they can act!
