New Trailer for 'I Am Legend'

Well, it's official: After watching the latest trailer for the Omega Man update, I Am Legend, I can safely say that I am now looking forward to this movie. Worstpreviews.com is hosting the new trailer for the sc-fi thriller about the last man on earth left to do battle with fellow survivors of a cannibalistic plague. WB has managed to improve their poster art for the film, so I guess they thought they would apply the same mentality to their trailers. The first trailer release back in June was much more focused on the drama angle of the film. This time, its all about the thrills -- and it definitely succeeds (although I probably could have done without the shots of Will Smith in full science-guy mode; lab coat and all).Directed by Francis Lawrence, Smith stars as the survivor of a plague battling to find a cure before he is overrun by some pretty nasty fellow survivors. The script was written by Poseiden's Mark Protosevich, and Smith is joined by Salli Richardson and Alice Braga, but the trailer makes it very clear: this movie is all about Will Smith. Personally, I think he can carry it off, but that might just be me. So don't worry if this trailer has not sated your appetite for all things Legend. DC comics still has graphic novels on the way, and you can already play a MMO through Second Life courtesy of WB and The Electric Sheep. I Am Legend hits theaters on December 14th, 2007.

OK, I surrender! I really didn't see Will Smith in this role. I guess I liked the arch-ness (if that's a word) that Vincent Price and Chuck Heston had brought to the role previously. But I'll admit, this looks good. Art direction looks kick-ass. And it seems to have a touch of Aussie cult classic The Quiet Earth, as well--if you were the last man on earth, wouldn't you go a little nuts? Count me in, dammit.

wow. I saw the first trailer, thought it might be interesting and thus read the book. The book's all kinds of good and now both trailers look awful. Really they seem to have replaced the wit, the sorrow, the creepiness of the book with stupid pyrotechnics and a hack actor. Too bad. DVD.

I want to see it, and it looks good, but I think they really ruined a great story.
One of the things that made I Am Legend scary is that it took place in a rural setting. He had to drive all the way into town to do whatever he needed to do, and then drive all the way back before the infected came out.
Plus, he lived in a small HOUSE, which made it very difficult to protect himself, he had to board the whole place up and pray they wouldn't destroy the new defenses every night. With this being set in a modern city, I see no reason for him to fear, take up residence on the fifth floor of a high rise, board up the floors beneath, block off the staircases and you should be set, and you never have to worry about hearing them, which was one of the scariest parts of the story.
Everything that made the story scary was based around the fact that he lived in a small, rural town in the 50's, which meant none of the modern comforts (obviously, they didn't exist when the story was written) and none of the modern protections.

Someday I would like to see an actual movie of the book. Set in the 70's and everything. It could be like an alternate reality tale. I AM LEGEND is an unbelievably thrilling book. There is nothing creepier than the guy you use to work with becoming a vampire and coming to your house every night and asking you to come outside. Or for your undead wife to dig herself up and come home to you. Why not just make a movie directly from that?

Actually the book was written in the '50s but took place in the late '70s.
Looking forward to the movie even more now.

I'm not so sure.
I know they are trying to make it modern, which is very understandable...but it still looks iffy.
The I Am Legend story was never action oriented and I think this movie could've worked being very physiological/suspense than what I am seeing it as.
Also what's with the vampires? They all look the same and the CGI doesn't even look that good.
I'm still looking forward to it, just a little on edge.
