GALLERY: Writers Begin to Strike in NYC!
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Newsstand, Politics, Images

The WGA has officially begun picketing in New York City outside NBC studios in Rockefeller Center. These are the first photos from the scene (courtesy of Getty Images) which show a slew of writers marching with signs ... and pretty nifty jackets, I might add. I want one of those. The WGA went on strike at midnight today after talks between them and AMPTP ended with each side claiming the other left the room first. Picket lines will begin forming immediately out in Los Angeles, but as of now 40 or so writers (ranging from daytime soaps to prime-time series) have begun marching. How long will it last? What are they shouting? And how do I get one of those jackets? Hopefully, all of these questions will be answered in the coming days. Check out the Cinematical gallery below, and don't forget to vote on who you think is right over on our Monday Morning Poll post.

Not that I intend to demean the purpose and import of their actions (go writers!), but those jackets are kickin'. I'd love to get one too.
Maybe the writers' union can supplement their strike pay through online clothing sales?

You would think that 'talented' writers would come up with more pithy strike placards. "On strike"? A kindergartner could have come up with that.
