Shia LaBeouf Arrested!
Filed under: Celebrities and Controversy, Steven Spielberg
From what I understood, Shia LaBeouf was not like other young celebrities. He's even appeared on late night talk shows explaining how he's different. How he won't be caught out at the clubs, wasted and doing embarrassing things. But just as everybody is due 15 minutes of fame, everybody with more than that quarter hour is due at least one day of scandal. So, here's LaBeouf's moment of controversy, finally: the 21-year-old was arrested at a Chicago Walgreens, where he was allegedly drunk and refusing to leave. This was at 2:30 a.m. on Sunday morning; at first he was detained by a security guard, and then taken away by police, who booked him and released him on bond at 7 a.m. His official charge was misdemeanor criminal trespassing and he is due to appear in court November 28.Man, I can't wait to hear Shia's side of the story. I mean, there has to be a good reason for what happened. And even if not, who hasn't been drunk at a Walgreens on a Saturday night once in their life? The thing is, the police didn't test LaBeouf's sobriety since he wasn't driving (how did he get there? who was he with? inquiring minds want to know details!), and so there's no proof that he was in fact drunk. Of course, it hardly matters if he was sober, because right now the whole world is reading about his drunkenness. At least this is the perfect time for a scandal, if he must have one. It's many months past his successes with Disturbia and Transformers and many months before he'll be seen in Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull -- not that people would not see that movie just because of this incident. I doubt Spielberg will even have to scold him at all.

I gotta tell ya I was really disappointed in this news. A big reason I respect LaBeouf is because he kept on saying how he wasn't gonna do this. LaBeouf is one of the really talented actors under 25 and he goes and does this. Granted, as you said, there's no way to prove he was drunk, but if he was he better shape up pretty quick or he'll simply turn into another one of the "under-30-so-that-means-I-don't-ever-have-to-be-sober" club.

While I am disappointed, it's still not like he's turned into L.Lo or Paris.
Plus have either of those two done anything worthwhile in a long time. At least Shia is still making great movies. He's hoping it was just a misunderstanding or a one time thing.

One drunken incident does not a Hollywood partyboy make.
Not a weekend goes by that doesn't see the arrest of at least a handful of our local college geniuses here at Florida State. And lord knows I barely escaped a few embarassing incidents myself. This has more to do with being 21 than anything else. People learn from mistakes like this. Leave the guy alone and let him live his life. He's got a looong way to go before he's in Lohan-land.

One stupid mistake is not gonna end his career. The media is making it out like he's done this before.

Poem for Shia;

Sugar lips
Oh, so sweet, they say to him;
sweet as candy cane and sugar mints.
Oh so good, they dream of his red
cherry lips, Oh so good and sweet,
they can't stay away like crazy glue
sticks. The sweet, Oh, the sweetness
of his lips. He wonders in the hood,
he needs a smoke or two, but the ladies
make him pause, the ladies in the hood.
They follow him around, like honey
bees in the nest. They wonder how he
taste, they wonder how he humps,
they wonder how he kisses, And he
knows is he they love, but still he looks
around and thinking in his mind.
Shia is this for you? yes it is. "He thinks".
And this is all night long. The ladies in
the hood, the ladies everywhere they look
for him around, and not for his blin blin,
but for his yum, yum sugar candy lips,
Oh, the sweetest thing, the sweetness of
his lips the ladies can't resist.

There would be paparazzi all over the place, and magazines would be full of headlines speculating on everything. The general public did not know about Heath Ledger's drug problems until he died, but every time Britney Spears or Lindsay Lohan walks out of the house it's reported immediately.
Granted, it's not like Shia was driving or using coke, and it's a first offense. But imagine a young starlet getting arrested for being drunk at Walgreens and refusing to leave. It would be a much bigger deal, and the media would keep watching for her to do something worse.
