agreed 100%. It's just proof that these things are retarded and mean nothing. Personally, I think it's Maxim thinking they have some sort of clout as to how popular someone is and they think putting SMG on the cover is going to inflate her popularity. WRONG!!! Sarah Michelle Gellar is pretty much yesterday's news. The last of a breed of late 90's teen mega-stars that have all either failed consistently or married Tom Cruise.

Seriously though, Maxim is classing it up a little for this one. I can dig it, SMG brings a certain sexy that few women can. I don't think anyone's ever accused her of being sleazy or cheap, but she brings the heat everytime she's on screen.

Kudos for a woman of the year that's...
A) Over 17 1/2 years old and
B) Classy

These FHM, Maxim WOTY lists have less to do with physical sex appeal (although, they could do a lot worse then SMG), and more to do with how high profile their carrers currently are. Believe me, if Paris Hilton had a new series, and 2-3 movies coming out in the next year, she'd be woman of the year. Its more because SMG will have a number of new projects coming out, not because she's the hottest woman on earth.

Check your facts, she doesn't have two Korean horror film remakes coming out. The film that has been remade isn't horror and there aren't two listed on her imdb. As far as I can tell, the films Maxim were referring to were Southland Tales, The Air I Breathe and Possession (the remake).

Maxim's been trying to get her on their cover for about ten years now and now they've got her so of course they're going to give her a title. She represents a certain class of woman and that's what Maxim's trying to achieve with their new direction...a less sleezy magazine. THAT is why they've chosen her for woman of 2008. Though she may not make it in the rags, flash her cooch or survive on a diet of drugs and booze, she's still got projects in the works (including charity stuff on the side) and is still attractive and relevant.

Sarah Michelle Gellar is a very intelligent, well rounded, very caring and charitable person. She has peformed many charitable work left unnoticed. As an actress, she has exemplified utmost professionalism per all the directors and producers she has worked with and she is very talented. Furthermore, she has managed to avoid all the pitfalls of so many young stars of today. Maybe MAXIM realizes that and so what is wrong with promoting a quality actress like SMG instead of the overexposed ones already? Also, to correct your rushed editorial piece, her three projects are Southland Tales, The Air I Breathe, and Possession. Yes, her Suburban Girl is going straight to DVD but that has gained wide attention at the recent Tribeca Film Festival. At least she's been busy working.

Buffy saved the world a lot, but in this case it's nice to see the editors of Maxim caught with their pants down instead of their cover models. Some publicist told them "Southland Tales is going to be red hot!" five months ago, and they swallowed the bait...
She looks better in the photo than she does in that badly digitally resurfaced movie, anyhow--

I think we SHOULD keeep talking trash about this woman who pretty much, NONE of us have met. Let's just judge away. No career, Has been, Bad Role Model, ... Oh wait. Most times Maxim will miss the mark. Trying to pick the impact woman for the next year. This time they got it right. Instead of selling cover with the latest air-head pseudo celebrity, they went for quality and a below the radar pick. Southland Tales, Sububan Girl, and korean horror movies, that's diverse. Should she bring "Buffy" back? Only to the big screen.

I think that SMG is a good choice. She is at least sane, beautiful and true to herself and her marriage. She may not be who you want to see but that is what's great about this. Maxim choose who they thought should be woman of the year. I only wish that I looked half as good as she does. I think someone needs to put you in your place, and you are???? My point exactly.
