Sienna Miller Enlists with 'G.I. Joe'

In the midst of all the casting speculation for the big-budget version of Hasbro's G.I. Joe, I don't quite think fans expected to hear this name pop up first. Variety reports that Sienna Miller has officially become first actor to sign for the Stephen Sommers (The Mummy) film. Nothing has been simple with this film; starting back in June when it was reported that Paramount had ordered two different scripts for the film, only to do away with one entirely and then hire a brand new script writer. According to Variety, the story will center on, "Brussels-based GI OE, an acronym for the Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity, and revolves around an international co-ed force of operatives who use high-tech equipment to battle Cobra, an evil org headed by a Scottish arms dealer".So how might Miller fit into the story, you may ask? According to Variety, she will play "raven-haired baroness and sexy femme fatale skilled in espionage" -- which is probably a compendium of some of Joe's more famous leading ladies. But considering Miller's history as a model, you think they would have made her Cover Girl.
Most of the casting is still up in the air for the film, despite some of the goofy rumors floating around; at one time or another Mark Wahlberg, George Clooney, and Jason Statham were all attached to the project. But, Miller gets the distinction of being the first actor to officially sign on to a big-screen version of a toy commercial. Paramount hopes to begin shooting this February. G.I. Joe is set for release on August 7th, 2009.

They weren't referring to any old "baroness". I think they mean "The Baroness" as she was a pretty significant character within Cobra. See here:

Sienna could be a breat Baroness. We'll have to see in 1.5 years!

WHEN THEY SAY "SCOTTISH ARMS DEALER", ARE THEY REFERRING TO DESTRO OR THE COBRA COMMANDER? I MIGHT BE WRONG BUT I'M PRETTY SURE THAT NEITHER OF THEM WERE SCOTTISH. MAYBE ZARTAN, HIS FAMILY & THE DREADNOCKS WERE BUT DESTRO STRUCK ME AS AFRICAN & I HAVE NO FREAKING CLUE WHAT COMMANDER WOULD BE.

Destro was Scottish, and he was the head of MARS, which was his family's military armament company. That would make the most sense to me if they are talking about a scottish arms dealer. Cobra Commander was American, or at least given that impression from the comic books while Zartan and his Drednocks were Australian.
I will have to see how this pans out with Sienna Miller since Baroness was black haired and German I thought. Of course, the tight leather black outfit will be a plus. It worked for Kate Beckinsale in Underworld.

I had grave doubts when I heard that Transformers was being made into a live action movie. I thought that it turned out pretty good. So, in spite of all the difficulties to date, I'm willing to wait and see what they do with G.I. Joe.

There is a live action gi joe movie called WAR MACHINE. It’s an independent film but it’s awsome. See the trailer at:

THis is no Joke. It’s alike a special missions adventure. Their Baroness looks like the real deal. So does their version of Duke, Snake Eyes, Scarlet, Cobra Commander and everyone else. And in this version the gi joe team is American!
