New 'Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull' Poster
Filed under: Action, Fandom, Movie Marketing, Remakes and Sequels, Images, Posters
A brand new poster for Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull has arrived online (click on the image for a larger version), and for the first time we catch a glimpse of a poster that definitely brings us back to the look and feel of the first three films. There's Indy (Harrison Ford) in his classic outfit with fedora hat and whip in hand, standing in front of a burning skull that looks pretty damn evil. Underneath you get the film's title in classic Indy font, as well as the release date: May 22. A little older, wiser, this time around Indiana Jones is on the hunt for a mysterious crystal skull, which, when in ones possession, creates great powers. He'll be reuniting with his old Raiders flame, Marion Ravenwood (Karen Allen), as well as getting to know his son, as played by Shia LaBeouf. Ray Winstone and Jim Broadbent will show up playing a fellow archaeologist and fellow professor, respectively, while Cate Blanchett is said to be playing an evil Russian. Additionally, John Hurt will be playing the long-lost (and thought-to-be-dead) Abner Ravenwood. So, does this poster pump you up ... or not so much?

Thank goodness they used Drew Struzan to paint the thing. Not that anyone could think they wouldn't. I'm actually a bit surprised that they haven't put any of the supporting characters in there, though. As for the background, it looks most like the Temple of Doom background.

Er...
So, I know it's been floating around the Nets for a while, but I'm pretty sure the "evil-ness" of Cate Blanchett's character is supposed to be a surprise. You guys really need to work on your system of spoiler warnings.

It isn't a must-see movie for me. Yet. But Spielberg is involved so things could change.
And opening it in May is pure genius. It should totally destroy Iron Man (and I have the feeling that movie will be clunkier than a suit made of metal).

Awesome to see Struzan again. I am optimistic but I woulda liked to
have seen Indy lookin' a bit older in this poster. He just doesn't
look THAT old. But everything else looks great....can't wait to see
the trailer....and Karen Allen!

If the chills that just went up my spine are any indication, I'll probably be seeing this more than once on opening weekend.

I've been dubious about Indy's latest outing. Until now. The poster looks great and - in a way that the news coverage and PR efforts have failed to do - has reminded me of what I love about the series and the excitement of seeing Indy in a new adventure. Bring it on! Can't wait...

So what kind of skull is that? Not human, there isn't a nasal cavity.

The poster looks fantastic. The only minor issue and its a teeny tiny one. Its the skull itself. The word skull is in the movie title so its not unusual, but with Depp's "Pirates" movies might the skull image be overdone? Indy himself though looks like the heroic icon that he's always been.

poster is awesome... i'm curious if they're going to do everything they can makeup-wise or post processing to make harrison ford look younger... cos the indy in this poster is definitely not an Indiana Jones in his 60s.

Joe,
To be fair, at this point in time, common sense would have kicked in and kinda clued you in that there -could- be potential spoilers, even if they weren't done intentionally. Best rule of them is - if you're worried about spoilers, don't read anything and go in surprised. :>
As for the poster - wow, it's certainly eye-catching! I love it. I so want to see this movie. I am kinda surprised it's not coming out in July, though. Question for anyone who may have an answer or at least can come up with a good reason:
Why not have this film open near the July 4th weekend instead of in May? I'm not sure what all else is coming out that weekend, but I can't imagine it'd be something that this movie couldn't beat out in the box office....

Redirect your 'actor links' to imdb. It's better than AOL and even if you're owned by the same people, you should go for the best resource.
