Check Out 5 Minutes of Cloverfield!
Filed under: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Movie Marketing, Trailers and Clips
We've seen parts of this before, but here's that party scene from Cloverfield in all of its glory. I have to say -- even though I wasn't entirely intrigued by the random trailers, seeing it as a full clip has piqued my interest. Just like the trailer, instead of trying to scare us with eerie music and cinematic ploys, the creeps are from curiosity, and the viewer wondering what in the hell is going on -- just like the people on-screen. It looks like it will work pretty well. Whether that holds through the whole movie, we'll have to wait and see, but I'm liking what J.J. Abrams has done in seemingly destroying New York City (the video coming from an area formerly known as Central Park).
The clip also reveals Theo Rossi, one of my favorite younger actors out there. He played a bully with possibly-evil plans on Veronica Mars, and he recently had one heck of a sad death on Grey's Anatomy, so hopefully he's actually throughout the film, and not just a quick glimpse in a party scene. I also must say -- gotta love people who are more interested in taking cell phone pics of a ravaged and thrown Statue of Liberty head than getting the hell out of there.
This video is the latest part of Cloverfield's viral campaign, and they say sharing the clip widget can score you a prize, so good luck and share away!
And personally, I'm still holding out hope that the evil thing is the same as this clip.

Damn...just...damn...
What sells it for me is not just the statue's head falling in the street. It's when they spot the explosion from a distance. That really sells the realism, and puts me there with the partygoers, stuck in the middle of this event.

I'm assuming, although its been over 6 years already since 9/11, that some people might get a little traumatized by this movie. Looks interesting.

I agree E. That's one of the things I thought of when I saw the clip for the first time. I'm extremely interested in seeing it, but I can imagine that some people might be a little traumatized.

It looks really interesting but seeing the empire state building fall brought my heart into my throat and a flashback from 6 years ago...I want to see it but dont know if I'll be able to handle seeing that in a theater.

Um...I really hope that whatever darkens the sky outside the convenience store is debris dust, because otherwise that shot looks almost exactly like the beginning of The Mist, which also had enigmatic monsters that you never really got to see very well...

Oh good grief, let them be traumatized, and I'm sure that yours won't be the only complaint in that vein when the movie comes out.
But I think the Statue's head is still too small.

Why is it that the army is also dragging a woman who was being examined by them away like she had some type of Infection..
