Hey, Check Out the Creepy New 'Ruins' Trailer!

A few days back, Bloody-Disgusting.com shared a few brand-new pics from the upcoming studio horror flick The Ruins -- and this morning they were kind enough to point us towards the even brand-newer teaser trailer. Having just read the book a few weeks ago, I can say it doesn't look like they changed a whole lot from Scott Smith's source novel. (He also wrote the adaptation, which might explain things.)Anyway, the trailer is hosted over at AtomFilms.com, but they've given us the option to embed, and embed I shall. Click away, horror freaks. (Directed by first-timer Carter Smith, and starring folks like Shawn Ashmore, Laura Ramsey and Jonathan Tucker, The Ruins opens on April 4 -- unless Paramount decides to bump it up for us!) To those who haven't read the book, I ask ... does this trailer do it for you? Would you plan a trip to these Ruins?

I LOVED the book. The movie could very well be good (I still have faith in Smith's adaptation), but I'm pretty disappointed with this generic looking horror-flick teaser. The atmosphere needed in order to sell the plot, which has a very high possibility for coming across as cheesy, is severely lacking. But I'm keeping my hopes up that the movie will deliver.

I've never read the book but I like the main actors. The teaser itself seemed just like any other generic "mysterious place with uninviting people that know the evil that's there" kind of movie.

I found the book terribly generic, terribly predictable, and without even the tiniest bit of originality.
It seemed that it struck a chord with those that don't usually read horror books, but to those of us that do (at least those of us that read moderately respectable horror rather than weird fantasy horror) it was just more of the same.
