Michael Bay Promises Lots More Robots for 'Transformers 2'

Director Michael Bay stopped by his official blog to wish fans a happy new year and, at the same time, plug his upcoming sequel to last summer's Transformers flick. Oh yeah. According to Bay, "Transformers 2 will be coming soon, " and "the new robots are really really unique and there are a lot of them this time." Here's hoping they are unique, because one of the main problems I had with the first film was that aside from Optimus Prime, Bumblebee and a couple others, I couldn't tell who the hell was who. I'm not quite sure more robots is the answer, but more clearly defined robots would be nice.
As far as release dates go for Transformers 2, the entire online world went all nutty recently when The Hollywood Reporter listed Transformers 2 with an "as-yet-unslotted" release date. This, of course, goes against reports that the much-anticipated sequel had already been given a June 26th, 2009 release date. I wouldn't worry about this too much; that June 26th date was never really concrete, and the writer's strike will most likely determine whether we actually get a Transformers sequel in 2009 or 2010. Either way, this is a top priority over at DreamWorks and the film will happen eventually ... even if Michael Bay has to write it himself. Finally, below you'll find a video of the one thing I'd like to see in Transformers 2 (for obvious reasons). Enjoy.

I hope the second part have more kind of robots, not only cars, I think the Dinobots have to be in the second part as a lot of Autobots and Decepticons like the serie.
Michael Bay has to be the director because he did a great job in the first one besides all the problems he had in the first one, but he has to continue the job because he started it and he and no one else has to end it, good luck, and please Mr. Bay think in all our suggestions, we love Transformers and we want to see them as we dream to see them, alive!

The amount of criticism this film has recieved especially about the robots is a shambles! All of these people that have p***ed and moaned because Optimus wasnt a flat faced truck really does grind on you abit...seriously, if the artists had gone with the G1 Optimus style then it would not have worked at all because he would have looked like facking megazord! The only elements that spoilt the film was that it focused too much on the human relationships. Hopefully Bay wipes that out and puts main focus on the bots instead! Cant wait for TF2

Personally i think the insectacons need to be in the 2nd movie along with the stuntacons because Their leader can give optimus prime a run for his money.but to also even the odds add the areobots. what do you all think?

My only hope for Transformer 2 is that they include 'combiners'..It would be hell to see them bots' combine sequence and battle it out..say..Devastator vs Aerialbots?..Or what about multiple transformation bots such as Blitzwing,Astrotrain or even Sixshot?..So with Megatron's demise, will we be seeing *pray* Galvatron?..Heck i'll be just glad if Soundwave makes the list.(since cassette tape are extinct now, perhaps it can transform as Blu-ray player that shoots out blu-ray disc Laserbeak and Rumble?)..LOL..Aww man i'm getting giddy just thinking what the bayman has to offer in TF2..outta ere!

I hope that unique, means this film wil have the Dinobots. The last film had a scorpion. I want some seriously big robots in this film, give me a battle between Devastator and the Dinos, and that is a blockbuster. I just hope unique, doesn't mean more crappy cybertronian vehicle modes, like Megatrons fugly looking space jet.

I just hope there is a little more diversity in vehicle brands so it doesn't look like a 2 hour long GM commercial. Also, don't bring in Hotrod. And killing Jazz was dumb, bring him back. Hey, Bay, the black guy (Jazz) doesn't die in the movies anymore. That was sooo '80s.

When I first heard about the first Bay Transformers movie, I was afraid they would skimp on the robots and the non-robot parts would blow. Boy was I wrong. The movie would have been better if it didn't have any robots at all. When it comes to the point where you want to see more of Shia LaBeouf and some overrated Maxim-type chick, and even John Turturro in the worst role of his career, and less Transformery goodness, then something's wrong.
Hey, Mr. Bay, if you can't make interesting robots then don't bother!
