New 'Cloverfield' Preview
Filed under: Sci-Fi & Fantasy, Fandom, Movie Marketing, Trailers and Clips
If you were watching Ryan Seacrest bring in the new year this past Monday night, then you may have already seen this brand new Cloverfield preview (featured above). Seacrest introduced it at some point during the broadcast (we tuned in shortly before midnight because watching Ryan Seacrest for an extended period of time apparently causes cancer in some cities). Basically, you're getting a bunch of scenes we've already seen from previous trailers and TV spots, though I believe a few new shots were thrown in (as well as some dialogue). For those who aren't already aware, Cloverfield tells the story of a giant monster that attacks New York City, and the film is shot entirely using hand-held cameras a la The Blair Witch Project. Cloverfield arrives in theaters on January 18.

i was pretty excited when i first saw the trailer and i was hoping that the hand held camera style was just a gimmick for the trailer... but having heard the ENTIRE movie is like that i think i will pass. might catch it on dvd but seeing such chaotic camera work on a big screen is just asking for a headache. i worked in the theater during the blair witch run and had to clean a couple of puddles of vommit during that time. not my favorite time.
i think i understand why this is being released in january...

I really, really would like to know what is going on right at the end of this spot with the three people behind the curtain...The person in the center seems to be...turning into THE BLOB?
*is fascinated*
