Sundance Interview: 'In Bruges' Director Martin McDonagh
Filed under: Sundance, Podcasts, Interviews, Cinematical Indie
Martin McDonagh's plays -- The Pillowman, The Lieutenant of Inishmore -- has earned him acclaim in the world of the theater; with In Bruges, McDonagh's moving from the stage to the silver screen in his feature film debut. In Park City, McDonagh spoke with Cinematical about the differences between theater and film, working with Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, and how in some ways having his film as the opening night selection at Sundance " ... would not be my first choice for a weekend away."
This interview, like all of Cinematical's podcast offerings, is now available through iTunes; if you'd like, you can subscribe at this link. Also, you can listen directly here at Cinematical by clicking below:

Rocchi, I know you don't respond to comments to your posts (Why not?), but I just wanted to say that I listened to the last one with Michael Gondry, and it was great. Great audio quality (Much improved, just no more left to right speaker switching), and a great interview. Were you nervous to talk to him? He's quite talented.
Can't wait to listen to this one and more Sundance Interviews. Hopefully you can get one with someone from "Timecrimes". Saw it mentioned on another website recently, and I am very interested in it.
Thanks for posting James.

Having had the extreme pleasure, years ago, of playing Pato Dooley in McDonagh's 'Beauty Queen of Leenane,' I can't wait to see what this brilliant playwright has done with his foray into feature film. There is a huge base of fans of McDonagh here in Anchorage, Alaska. 'Beauty Queen,' 'The Pillowman' and 'The Lieutenant of Inishmore' all played to great reviews and sell-out audiences in Anchorage, so I am hoping the film plays here soon.
