'Quantum of Solace' Poster and Behind the Scenes Bond Footage
Filed under: Action, Fandom, DIY/Filmmaking, James Bond, Remakes and Sequels, Daniel Craig, Posters
It hasn't been long since the title for Bond 22 was finally announced (is it me, or does Quantum of Solace sound too sci-fi for a Bond flick?), and already we have a poster and some tasty behind the scenes footage. That's the poster above, first unveiled over at The Daily Mail, and now a larger version has come to us via JoBlo (via Toxicshock). Honestly, I'm not all that crazy about it -- the thing looks too damn busy. And what's up with calling it Marc Forster's Quantum of Solace? I'd prefer it if they removed the names and simply said James Bond in Quantum of Solace. That brings an old school flavor to the advertisement, and it doesn't look as crowded. But what do I know; I'm just the idiot internet writer.
Additionally, you can head on over to IGN and check out a few minutes of behind the scenes footage from the set of Quantum. There's Daniel Craig swinging on a rope all damaged and whatnot, and then we see Forster behind the camera looking all director-like. From there, we see Craig (as Bond) telling some girl behind a desk to tell whoever that he's heading for Cairo. Finally, there's a scene of Bond speaking to M, before walking off camera with a blank stare. Quantum of Solace is due out in November.
UPDATE: This was just fan art, by the way, as the new, official teaser poster just launched -- and you can check it out here.

That looks like a pretty poor fanboy Photoshop job.
Not sure who told you that was legit, but I highly doubt it is.

"Quantum of Solace"... seriously? seems more apt a title to hear as an album name on Hearts of Space.

I can tell you with almost certainty that this is not the poster. A film that grand would never have a poster that poor. I'm just saying; I don't believe it...

I think it's a fitting title to go with the direction of the Bond series.
I'm glad they are using Ian Fleming's actual writing to influence titles and stories.

You've been had, I'm afraid. The font used on the title is a million miles from that used when the film was unveiled last week. Also, the Bond producers would never let the director's name appear anywhere near the title of the film.

EON's Bond posters always use Ian Fleming, not the director, for the possessive, either as "Ian Fleming's Casino Royale" or as "Daniel Craig as Ian Fleming's James Bond in..." The wording's all off. I doubt they'd change it for this one.
Plus, no movie poster is going to have "digitally processed" on it, nor will it read "not rated."
This isn't just a fake, it's a lousy fake.

It does seem a bit cobbled together, and it is missing the 'Ian Fleming's James Bond in. . .' line Perhaps it's a rough, a work in progress? But heck it's got Daniel Craig on it so I like it. Though I agree it's busy and big. After the sleekness of the Casino Royale poster, I don't think this is official.
And I agree with DaveTheWave, I like that they are still using the Fleming material. If anyone has read Quantum of Solace and knows what that actually means, you'd understand why they chose it. I think it's a perfect fit.

I totally agree with you on the look of this....too jumbled. Drew Struzan it ain't! I think the "Quantum of Solace" story was a short combined with the "For Your Eyes Only" book. I agree though, this poster doesn't feel official. It looks like an old Betamax cover.

This poster is FAN ART people. It's been floating on commanderbond.net for quite some time. It's not the real thing.
